It seems that you have 512MB RAM but I have 2GB and discrete graphics(Radeon X300)even though they're horrible anyway and this is on a Live USB... But, I don't have one of those. In Toledo, the school districts answering machine service is ran on a single old Dell optiplex tower, running 64mb of sd ram, 233 Pentium, and running a variant of freebsd. With a proper Sw every pc will make the difference running faster, smooth and stable. I never pretend to run the last os ( upgrade , upgrade , upgrade) on my Pc. I want a pc that boots fast, respond to my needs quickly and never crashes. Linux and Os x are my preferred choices. Win Xp and Windows7 too , but i removed a lost of unused stuff making a very light weight Os and different from original.
