A Nonny Moose
Well, it appears Greenpeace has set up a fake Apple website. While the site is a good parody, Greenpeace's claims have been completely proven false. Yet even after getting completely disproven, the exo-nuts at Greenpeace are still going at it. Leave it to the eco-nuts to rely on pseudoscience and hysteria instead of the cold, hard facts. gwprod12
In the piece on roughlydrafted, I see one claim (which I cant find on the Greenpeace apple website) that has been anecdotally refuted. Looks more like opinion than fact or proof to me. However, Greenpeace appears to be a little too rabid against Apple considering the difference in Apple VS HP (or whomever) products. They're basicly made of the same thing, Apple just hasnt made promises to switch away from PVC and other chemicals in the future. Anecdotally, I'd like to say that in my experience, Apple products tend to either go sour quick or last forever. Unfortunately, when the macbook you bought today stops working when your applecare runs out, Apple will want to charge you $15000 for a new logic board screw. Just my opinion on that. Though other computer manufacturers arent much better, I suppose. sHARD>>
Greenpeace was a bit radical when they started, but for a long time they have been full of {censored}. Some of the key founders have even left thinking that the group has basically gone insane (like Patrick Moore). So yeah. Now they are just an amusing spectacle which few people pay attention to. gwprod12
Agreed. Though I think it's more reasonable to say that Greenpeace's attack on apple is overly phlegmatic rather than factually incorrect. aberracus
Controversy Patrick Moore has been criticized by environmentalists for many of his views detailed above. Some see him as a sell-out, having "abruptly turned his back on the environmental movement" and "being a mouthpiece for some of the very interests Greenpeace was founded to counter"[1]. His critics point out Moore's business relations with what they see as "polluters and clear-cutters" through his consultancy.[1] Paul Watson, another co-founder of Greenpeace, quit the organization after Moore allegedly called a meeting to expel him from the board amid disagreements over Watson's direct action campaigns. He claims Moore "uses his status as co-founder of Greenpeace to give credibility to his accusations. I am also a co-founder of Greenpeace and I have known Patrick Moore for 35 years.... Moore makes accusations that have no basis in fact" [7]. But people call him a sellout because he is willing to work with corporations to gain a solution instead of wasting time by forcing a deadlock. Last time I checked, getting a solution to help the environment is better than arguing to the point where you get no solution at all. Greenpeace is bad for the environment. Darktear
I kinda like the ideá of apple beeing more enviromental.. We're not asking for just "good enough." We want Apple to do that "amaze us" thing that Steve does at MacWorld: go beyond the minimum and make Apple a green leader. gwprod12
what's wrong with PETA? some people dont feel like animals should be abused unnecessarily for human needs. Obviously a KFC Chicken's destiny is to be a 10 piece bucket of extra-tasty-crispy +dr00l+, but does that really require that those chickens be debeaked and kept in a cage that's only half a milimeter larger than they are?
