Is there any (good) dvd-rippers for mac, which can copy normal dvd to single-layer disk. (and maybe give option to choose what would be copyed.)

Most of the time you have to use MTR to burn the movie to your hd, then if you don't have dl dvd you need DVD2onex2 to shirnk the movie, then you need toast to burn the dvd. IF the movie dosen't have any protection and it is in reason of your DVD capacity then just use toast to burn it, i always go with VIDEO_TS easier i guess

Mactheripper and Handbrake are both great programs.. Sometimes I've had Toast not want to burn a rip from handbrake so I rip it from MTR.

Sadly when I was really into Netflix.. and I quit about 6 months ago. Both programs were getting worse and worse. They weren't working 100% of the time like they were at first. These companies are getting smarter.. and sadly our mac programs don't get the updates that the programs for PC get.

The BEST one I have ever found is a program for windows... I know I hate using windows too.. but its called DVD-Fab... or something like that. Its 2 programs you run at the same time. One pulls the decryption off.. the other pulls the movie off. I started using that agian once these other programs started to suck. So thats what I would say is the best program.

im not sure if it still does this, but back in previous versions of mac os you could simply copy the video_ts folder to your desktop or wherever from the finder and then open up that video_ts from the dvd player that comes with OSX and it will decode it.

of course if you want to shrink/compress them, handbreak is the way to go.

Another vote for Handbrake...really good quality, very fast...atleast on my Core 2 Duo, that is if you're looking to put it on your iPod. For copying DVDs, MacTheRipper does okay...but doesn't work very nice with some of the newer DVDs. And DVD2OneX does okay, kind of slow. Honestly, I use VMWare Fusion and use either DVD Decrypter or AnyDVD and DVDShrink still. Does the job everytime, and it's actually pretty fast.
