HackBoot V7 / Update

you need a 10.6.8

10.6.7 + sandy bridge = fails

I did try to install 10.6.8 on a sandy bridge on a i5 2300 and during the installation ( update) it freezes... due to kernel panic on the BSD. Where to go from here?

Hi there

tried it on the following setup and get a kernel panic during installing 10.6.8 combo

GA-H67M-D2-B3

i5-2300

internal graphic

Installing 10.6 from Retail Disk went fine

Installing Extra as well

Chameleon flawless

DSDT Patcher no prob

But as written, in the end I got the panic, see screen shot.

Any help would be gladly appreciated!

Thanx a lot

I got exactly the same story. Even I can;t find the mobo in DSDT patcher. I am using the GA-H61M-D2P-B3 instate of GA-H67M-D2-B3 wich is my mobo.

And at the end of installation 10.6.8 I got exactly the same kernel panic, as showen on the previous pict.

Where to go from here?

I am absolutely stuck here ;) Got a Lion GM install on my Gigabyte P35-S3G mainboard and I am currently trying to get sleep working. My computer goes to sleep just fine but if I try to wake it up the screen stays black. Fans and HDDs spin up for a couple of seconds but the computer just shuts itself off after maybe 5 seconds.

DSDTs I tried so far:

-> My own DSDT extracted while running with ForceLegacyRTC kext and NullCPUPowerManagement and patched via DSDT Auto Patcher

-> http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=192518 latest DSDT from there

-> some P35 DSDT I found in this forum for another guy with my mainboard

Maybe one out of 20 times the wakeup works, but that's about it.

I extracted a full boot to wake kernel log which can be found http://nopaste.info/7937823759.html here. The ugly kext errors just started to appear after I upgraded to Chameleon 2 GM. So far everything else works, except for sound.

Attached you find the DSDT I am currently using, based on the P35 DSDT I found plus patched for ALC662 (which does not work). If you need anything else that might help, just ask!

Original, unmodified DSDT: http://db.tt/0ddKtzd

Current, patched DSDT: http://db.tt/g52AdBR

Big big thanks in advance

EDIT: The only custom kernel extensions I am currently using are FakeSMC.kext and RealtekRTL81xx.kext but I tried it without the Realtek kext, same story.

There are so many pages of posts I've been searching through I'm pretty well lost. I've had a long term Leopard installation running on an EP45-UD3P Gigabyte board for about 3 years now. This week I swapped my Windows install to a new hard drive. Unfortunately, while I was giving Chameleon 2rc5 a try for the first time (had been on an old version), something fouled up the Leopard install.

So, installed Snow Leopard. Followed the tutorial. I now get Kernel Panics when booting up the new SL install that read:

panic(cpu 0 caller 0xffff... ): "No HPETs available...CPU(s) configured incorrectly\n"@/SourceCache/AppleIntelCPUPowerMnagement/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement-142.6/pmThread.c:157

Debugger called: <panic> ...and so on.

Any idea what's causing this? I can't find any example BIOS settings for the EP45-UD3P. All I have are my old Leopard settings which I'm not sure are correct. The LifeHacker BIOS screenshots are gone as far as I can tell.

Do I need NullPowerManagement.kext? I extracted DSDT after the initial boot into SL after the installation. Thanks for your time.

Still not working...

New KP reads:

"Cpu 2 has no HPET assigned to it"... otherwise the same as the last kernel panic.

HPET has always been enabled, 32 bit and 64 bit don't seem to have an effect. Does ForceHPET option do anything? Can a file permission disagreement cause dsdt.aml not to be read? I may need to reinstall SL and try to get things running first before I transfer any account information. I have a feeling that there may be a complication since I ran migration assistant before I actually got things set up smoothly.

Use NULL

send me DSDT

run on terminal

perl -e 'open(CMD, "ioreg -lw0 \| grep DSDT|") or die; while(<CMD>) { chomp; if($_ =~ /\"DSDT\.?\d?\"=<([^>]*)>/) { $buff = $1; open(PIP, "|xxd -r -p > ~/Desktop/dsdt.aml") or die; print PIP "$1"; } }'

Attached dsdt.aml. This was done with the HDEF Gigabyte dsdt patcher set for 889a sound. I had earlier used the regular DSDT autopatcher 0.6 I believe, which didn't affect the KP that I'm getting.

Follow tutorial

use DSDT Auto-Patcher

Hi Maldon

first of all thanks for you guide and files...then i put my experience...so maybe you can help me:

i've a p35c-ds3r mobo

i setted bios as you said (ahci everywhere)

i used snow leopard 10.6.3 dmg

i restore dmg into pendrive 16gb with disk utilities

i burned 3 type of bootcd:

##### 3.1.1

Gigabyte intel bootcd

HackBoot V5 (in your post)

i didn't added any kext to /S/L/E of my pendrive

i removed any type of peripheral in my pc...

i only tried with:

HDD EIDE

DVD ROM SATA Pioneer

Keyboard and mouse usb (apple alluminium keyboard and logitech mouse)

my cpu is socket 775 core2duo E6750

Ati Radeon HD2600XT

this configuration worked well with ideneb some years ago (unfortunately the hard disk with Leopard was broken...)

so i suppose i could install SL with your tut....but:

my 3 tests was:

boot pc with cdrom and pendrive inserted

at the boot of cd i choose MAC OS INSTALL DVD (in the pendrive) and i used parameters -v -x

this is the screen error with Gigabyte Intel bootcd

this is the screen error with ##### 3.1.1

this is the screen error with HackBootv5

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/196/20110830200144.jpg/

only for hackboot, at the end...it shutdown hard disk...and after some seconds i got the "wonderful" still waiting to root device....

here is the video

https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/FBEQ1...feat=directlink

i also tried to install snow leopart 10.6.6i hazard and it work...but only the installation ...when i reboot i got error...(i don't have that screen)

i would like to install SL vanilla (not a distro like hazard) to upgrade to lion...but i really don't know where i can hit my head..i tried a lot..and a lot...and a lot of kexts, i put inside dmg...but the result was the same...

can you help me?

thanks

regards

Simon

i tried...

same error at the same point...

loaded opt default, i changed usb keyboard support to enable

i changed first ahci setting

i didn't change Sata native port 0-3 (it was on disable by opt default)

i changed hpet to 64bit

rebooted...same thing...

if i boot only with -v i also got kernel panic.

do you think i have to change version of dmg? 10.6 ? 10.6.7?

thanks again

bye

Hi Maldon

i've tried also with 10.6.7

1° time:

in bios i loaded optimized settings then i changed only first AHCI option like this:

sata raid/ahci mode AHCI

sata port0-3 native mode DISABLED

...

...

...

Onboard sata/ide ctrl mode IDE

with this i boot from cd, then i load pendrive with -v -x and at the end of log the system shutdown hard disk...then "still waiting for root"

2° time

i setted this in bios:

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/651/ahci.jpg/

the boot from cd, pendrive without any parameter

the pre-system start but i immediately got a message on the screen told me i cannot install that version of osx but i can only REBOOT or RESTORE A BACKUPPED VERSION...

do you have any other suggestion?

thanks

regards

Simon

Hi Maldon

Thanks for your guide. I've successful installed 10.6.8 on my GA-P35-DS3R. All is OK, except two little things:

- 7300 GT needs to use kernel 32, GeForce driver panics in 64 bits. Others process runs in 64 mode, so I don't think it's a real loss of performance. Perhaps I will use another graphic card, who doesn't need to use GraphicsEnabler in Chameleon.

- the launchd process (pid = 1) always run fsck at startup, cause of an ioctl error.

Bug: launchctl.c:3557 (23930):17: ioctl(s6, SIOAIFADDR_IN6, &ifra6) != -1

I've made a lot of search and try, but nothing to do.

This bug comes on real mac too

Even using Hackboot , the Install DVD boot with fsck, same for 6.0 fresh install. Try differents DSDT or Cham version... Of course, I use HFS journalised.

So, fsck takes just few seconds, not a shame !

Thanks again ;)

Hi zero0n3,

On my GA-P35-DS3R

I set in "Integrayed Peripherals"

"SATA/RAID AHCI Mode" [sATA]

"SATA Port 0-3 Native Mode" [Disabled]

"USB xxxx " [Enabled]

"Onboard sata/ide Device" [Disabled]

I use only Sata Disk on Yellow Port

i restore SL dmg into a partition on a hard disk with disk utilities, not an USB stick. I think that with Hackboot the USB doesn't work correctly.

I boot on Hackboot Disk, select the partition with SL instal previously restored and instal on another partition.

Good luck.
