I thought this would be a sexy topic (no pun intended) to talk about, what do you guys all think, I honestly feel its perfectly ok, as long as the people are in an emotionally mature relationship, the marriage part specifically isnt really important to me, seeing marriages roots, thats just the way I see it!.

People are going to have sex no matter what laws or rules there are. It's good to know what to do and the consequences of your actions.

But then, in the US, no one is expected to be a virgin on their wedding night, and bastardy means nothing.

i think that any sex is aight just as long as u use a condom, at least for me as im 16 and i dont want to get ne one pregnant... plus its safer...

heheh No arguments there, im 20 and in the same boat as you :). I also like to double protect by using birth control pills too, the woman I mean, not me hehehh although i would take man-birth control pills if they had them.

Well it's very unethical, and could have very bad effects on the psychological health of the person if he is getting married later. :)

What is this based on? Religion? Because I can honestly tell you that Religion and Psychology are two very different things.

It's not based on any religion. It's based on moral values and some studies I read. When you are getting married won't you feel depressed to know that this is not the first woman you have sex with? How will your wife feel? (unless you don't tell her) :)

Doesn't anyone here study psychology at high school? I do. I am a GCSE (British high school student) and study psychology. If not then just think about it morally. Do you think it is appropriate?

Well, first of all, I took 1 year of psychology classes (IN COLLEGE), and morally, its perfectly appropriate. Theres no moral rule that says that there's only one person somebody can love, in fact, ive loved two women, ive been with more than that, but Ive actually loved two, theres no moral monopoly on marriage with love, in fact until recently in human history, marriage wasnt even about love.

Ever find it funny that the one person that fulfills you, that understands you, who you are "meant" to be with, usually happens to live nearby? the reason for this is that people are a lot less choosy than you might think, there is not one somebody for everybody, in fact there are probably a million somebodys for everybody, you just have to meet somebody who happens to mesh well with your personality, morally theres nothing really to say about it...its actually kind of irrelevant

Also, that really does sound like moral propaganda to me, plenty of people have sex before marriage and have full productive lives without issue.

Both my mom and dad had atleast 4 different relationships with other people before they met eachother, they dont feel bad about it, why should they? Having relationships before marriage gives one vital experience in how relationships work, ive learned so much from my relationships, and when i meet somebody I want to spend the rest of my life with, ill know it, because ive had the experience of other people...

I do not share the view that ones sexual history determines their character

Psychology? Surely its got more to do with sociology?

Its been a fact of life since humans got genitals. No religion, moral code or politics can stop what is, after all, the primal uge - to reproduce ourselves.

I certainly value a partner with experience....always did, come to think of it :)

To taht person who is in a british highschool, it is also a fact that it is our strongest desire preprogrammed into us at birth because if it was not then our species would go extinct (look @ panda bears)... so you wont really feel guilty unless you lie about it... other than that its not bad.... that was just stupid :)

I am not saying that we shouldn't have sex or love people. God made us have the desire to love and have sex and we should indeed have sex. I am saying that we should look at the problem socially and psychologically. We should only have sex with people who we marry. Anyway, I am not ordering anyone to to not have sex out of marriage, I am just saying my point of view. Everyone has his point of view, of course. Also don't get angry, because I am an Egyptian and there is a huge difference in traditions and culture. Here in Egypt, out of marriage sex is totaly unacceptable.

Just to end this, everyone should do what he wants. We are all old and responsible enough for our actions. Just do what you want or what you think is right.

NB: I don't know anything about college level psychology. I only know the psychology I study at school and what my teacher tells me. We sometimes get off topic and talk about this issue and discuss it with the class.

As you all very well know, I'm a devout Christian and I think that pretty much tells you my choice. I'm a virgin, and (hopefully) will be until I get married, (hopefully to my current girlfriend). We both love each other very much. We have gone past kissing a few times and we always feel like we're doing something wrong. It has a lot to do with our religious background as well. She's a virgin also. Let's just say that I can't wait to marry her and explore sex as much as we want, whenever we want, and never feel guilt about it at all. I don't know the numbers, but before marriage if both of the partners are virgins, it greatly increases the chances of the marriage surviving? Just an interesting fact...

I dont agree, I dont see how having sex with somebody before marriage determines whether the marriage suceeds or not, I honestly think that waiting to get married before having sex is too hyped up, its not a life/death thing, its just sex...

Im a virgin, twice removed (ive sleped with two women). One im still great friends with, one I dont talk to anymore. The previous sexual encounter doesnt get in the way of our friendship, thats in the past, its done now, time to move on, and when I do, ill find somebody who feels the same way about sex as I do, that its not really a big deal...
