Ai Haibara
Ok, Maxxuss has leopard, but we have Leopard too. Why we can't try to hack it? We theorically can hack the new 10.4.7 kernel too (maybe from sources?). Come on, guys! Ai Haibara
GUYS! I FINALLY GOT IT! IN SINGLE USER MODE! STABLE! ghgh, after replacing usr, bin and sbin it works And I don't get any error! Anything! It just boot! It just hangs about CoreFoundation when I try to boot the entirely system. BUT IT WORKS! InfernalEternal
Wait, so you've got Leopard (10.5) to run using the Tiger (10.4) Kernel? But the system eventually hangs? Thats pretty impressive! Ai Haibara
Yes I got it! XD I'm actually using 10.4.4's mach_kernel, usr, bin, sbin and some other stuff. Any Kernel Panic. Any crash. It just works. And now I'm going to get Leopard booting in Graphics Mode Sherry Haibara EDIT: And this is the error for you guys. After loading of "Matching service count = 2", I got some errors about LaunchDaemons stuffs, like this: kextd-parent[24]: IOKitWaitQuiet() timed out launchd: com.vix.cron: open("/etc/crontab", 0_EVTONLY: No such file or directory And after some of these errors i get: mDNSResponder-108: starting mDNSResponder: Couln't read user-specified Computer Name; using default bMacintosh.local instead mDNSResponder: SCDynamicStoreCreate failed: Configuration daemon not (no longer) available mDNSResponder: Daemon start: mDNS_Init failed -1 mDNSResponder-108: exiting mDNSResponder-108: starting etc. It's a loop that end with: launchd: com.apple.afctl: execve(): No such file or directory Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/24525-leopard-and-hackintosh/page/4/#findComment-168256 Share on other sites
Neonkoala
If you post your method in detail so far more people will be able to try it and have a good poke around. If I have some time I will try what I can on an Intel GMA900 system soon. Ai Haibara
Err... I tried to do also some other thing, but I don't know exactly what things need to be replaced. I replaced: usr, bin, sbin, etc, dev, CoreServices, LaunchDaemons, StartupItems, CoreFoundation.framework, CoreServices.framework, Extensions. I think that's all. But I don't know what of these directory really need to be replaced. Sherry Haibara EDIT: You can use Leopard etc. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/24525-leopard-and-hackintosh/page/4/#findComment-168268 Share on other sites

Ai Haibara
You can also use Leopard LaunchDaemons and StartupItems. I think you can use Leopard extensions, excepting IOATAFamily. Pu7o
I tried to run the new Mail.app. I copied over new frameworks, and made some progress, until it wanted a new CoreFoundation.framework, which I was scared to update. Does anyone know how to make an application look elsewhere for frameworks, as in LD_LIBRARY_PATH, and would it be possible to install the Leopard frameworks somewhere else and point the Leopard apps there? /blkblt DYLD_FRAMEWORK_PATH=... Ai Haibara
Can you wait a moment please? I'm verifying what things really needs to be replaced. Actually, seems that using Leopard sbin folder I get different errors. So I think you need to replace usr, bin, dev, CoreServices, CoreFoundation.framework and CoreServices.framework. Try with this. Ai Haibara
It seems that sbin contain something that make the machine panic. JaS, I will glad if you can discover what binary into sbin make the system crash. I think that we need something from 10.4.4 like mount and similar, but there's sure something that we necessary need from Leopard. Can you see the log and investigate for me, JaS? cyclonefr
wow that rocks! i remember when maxxuss was stucked into single user mode, it took him a day to fix it (kernel prob in my remember) but that's a good news...a mix of 10.4 and .5 would be great, im just not so sure machkernel 10.4 can handle it, at least 10.4.7 with PWM maybe Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/24525-leopard-and-hackintosh/page/4/#findComment-168315 Share on other sites

np_
Tried that, system boot but still the same problems.Sherry Haibara try with old IOKit framework leo IOKit has new function for connect method in IOUserClient so this will not work with old kernel without right IOUserClient class no UI at all Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/24525-leopard-and-hackintosh/page/4/#findComment-168338 Share on other sites
mmk
No offence here, but seems that you replace every UNIX dir and you got it booting in single user.... that is you got a tiger unix shell ..... a little more replacing in the frameworks and you get full tiger errr.... we gotta get the 10.4.7 kernel... EDIT: why not try the other way around? start with tiger and start adding applications (like time machine a.s.o.) and try replacing the frameworks that crash them ...? Because they use very different functions. For example: Time Machine use CoreAnimation. If you're able to get CoreAnimation run on Tiger, you're welcome try with old IOKit framework Thanks for the suggest, but now I get a lot of errors concerning IOPCI and IOHID. I think that's because the old IOKit framework is incompatible with new Leopard kexts. Ai Haibara
Damned Apple :pirate2: So it seems that the only way we have to get Leopard running on an hackintosh is hack kernel, UNIX services and some frameworks. Well, I think I can't do more than what I did. There's anyone that can hack, if not the kernel, almost the other stuffs? Sherry Haibara or implement all new functions missing in current kernel osx use "global" namespace - and that made it possible Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/24525-leopard-and-hackintosh/page/4/#findComment-168385 Share on other sites
