I tried again and the picture below is what happened twice

I partitioned the drive and formatted to Mac Os Extended (journaled)

Install failed at about 12 minutes left

Edit: I tried unchecking printers and extra languages before install but that lead to the same error

did you updated to 10.6.4 and grphics update 1.0

if not do them

first boot with boot cd then apply updates

and then open bootcd and go to extrafolder you will see dmg mount it go to extra /extensions you will find aty_init .kext

copy it to desktop and setup it by kext helper :)

there new way for GFX HD5XXX

but use above method it is easy :)

hi, i've been getting snow leopard to my pc for weeks.. and finally got some results..

here is my problem.

I restored snow leopard 10.6.3 retail image to my external harddisk.

first i using my graphic card which is ATI HD Radeon 4850 512MB and boot with the boot disk that you created.

half way i get kernel panic, can't get in to installation screen.

then i change my old graphic card Nvidia 9600 GSO, and it successfully get in to installation screen, i partitioned my 500gb harddisk and install without select printer support and language.

after couple of minutes and nearly done, i got install failed, i check the installer log and it says unable to set os boot disk or something like that... since i saw your threads and you said it is normal, then i restart the pc...

after restart i get CMOS checksum error... (every time restart after boot with your boot disk i'll get CMOS error :) ) and i reconfigured the bios settings and boot with the boot disk again and i successfully saw the welcome animation ...

ok, i then restart and changed back HD4850, boot with -v i get THIS panic... :(

Please help...

1) CMOS CHECKSUM ERROR

2) KERNEL PANIC FOR HD4850 GRAPHIC CARD

My Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-MA69G-S3H

first about cmos reset is more common in gigabypte MB

USE this kext

kernel panic of HD4850 YOU need boot file for your card or enabler

i dont have HD4xxx so you need search for enabler for your card and you need many tries :)

try this hope it work but setup it with nvida card then put ati card

good luck

thanks for reply...

i've been trying all day... still no luck... and another problem now... :(

okay, so since nothing to do with hd4850 yet, i was using nvidia card for setup, updated to 10.6.4, setup chamelon, copy boot.plist (with flag busratio=16) to extra folder, setup legacy kernel and install fakesmc.kext... after all these i reboot into chameleon boot loader, i use -v and press enter, i got following message then restart...
