mitch_de
Thanks all for posting their times ! ATI 4890 seems to be the fastest OpenCL card for OS X until Apple supports 57xx or 58xx GPU or Fermi. 4890 gets around 13,5 sec in High Benchmark Mode. Difference between 4890 and 4870 will be a bit more in games. mitch_de
Too bad that OpenCL isnt really used - the only App which uses OpenCL(for decoding, scaling+ filtering, but not encoding) is Starfire, an Videoencoder. Steve didnt shown anything about OpenCL in 10.7 - maybe they see that most Macs didnt have fast enough gpus today for an real benefit using OpenCL. iMovie & Co would like OpenCL also today for us with fast enough gpus! Ati released today 10.10 a hotfix for Win 7 with driver integrated OpenCl - OpenGl 4.0 lets hope that the 2 left ATi Coders in Steve Jobs Disneyworld have some time to do a decent job before they are forced to work for "Tootsi iOS 5.0 " Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/208916-benchmarking-opencl-by-raytraycing-on-atinvidiaopencl/page/2/#findComment-1569424 Share on other sites
