Hi guys. I have some serious stuttering on my 8800Gts in World Of Warcraft. My friend has 9600Gso, which is a considerably slower card and has no such issues, so I was thinking about experimenting with some other nvidia driver insatll method, if at all possible?! Is it possible to install nvidia drivers over these or uninsatll these first, if possible at all?!

I suggest trying NTFS-3G for Mac. Be sure to restore the original files before installing though.

 

Ok, here's the deal. I have managed to get the original mount_ntfs file. Now I don't know how to restore it. Could someone please write me the commands for terminal or address me to the sbin directory so I can restore the original file.

Is it possible to force SL into 32 bit mode with this install? I've tried a couple of popular kernal selectors from around the web but all of them fail to boot into 32bit.

Not right! I have fully working system with read/write ability on ntfs file systems in 64-bit mode!

 

ToDo list:

 

1) http://static.caurea.org/MacFUSE/MacFUSE-2.1.7.dmg 64-bit version of MacFuse.

 

2) http://sourceforge.net/settings/mirror_cho...1.14-macosx.dmg Latest ntfs-3g driver

 

Don`t forget to uncheck MACFUSE INSTALL, installing ntfs-3g driver, because we have installed it earlier in 1 line.

 

3) Have fun

Ok so I did the install on my EP43-DS3L board today. It is sort of working. I have no sound, and I can't seem to change the monitor resolution. The only resolution that is available is 1024x768 and my monitor is 1440x900. I did the CD install also because I don't have a thumb drive large enough to do the USB install. So far everything else seems to be working though.

 

*Edit* Ok quick little update. After a little searching around I realized that I haven't updated to 10.6.2 yet. Don't know if that will make a difference or not but I'm going to try that and hope it helps. Also, I don't think I have the latest version of my BIOS. How does a person update their BIOS when you're running OS X?

 

*Edit2* Ok 10.6.2 did cure my sound issue. However, my graphics still aren't right. I do not believe it is properly recognizing my video card. I have a 9800 GTX+ 512. I will play with my BIOS settings a bit and make sure I have everything right there. Otherwise, does anyone have any ideas?

i have Snow Leopard installed of a GA-EP43-UD3L with your Gigabyte.iso CD ... I think the Date of downloaded is the first week of December 2009.

 

My system work perfectly i think you can the EP43-UD3L write in your supportet list. Thanks.

 

Now i have see the new Package from your great installer, but i have no idea what for board i must select for my motherboard???

I think a good choice would be the EP-45-UD3L? What thinks it?

Everything is working great right now, but in future if i have to install again, i really want

to use your installation style. I have all working kexts etc.

 

Is there a way to adapt your guide to my system.

Apple's reccomended cards for SL are

 

• NVIDIA GeForce 9400M, GeForce 9600M GT, GeForce 8600M GT, GeForce GT 120, GeForce GT 130, GeForce GTX 285, GeForce 8800 GT, GeForce 8800 GS, Quadro FX 4800, Quadro FX5600
  
• ATI Radeon HD 4670, ATI Radeon HD 4850, Radeon HD 4870
  

GT & GS seem to be the certified guarantees.

 

I found the best is 8800GT "perfect"

First, many, many thanks mrjanek.

I bought a EX58-UD5 and a i7-920.

My first try was with your GigabyteCD method. But, unfortunatelly it freeze during instalation with an image saying "EP-45-UD3LR". While it is not my mother I decided to continue. But after inserting Snow Leopard installer disk nothing happend.

"Ok. I will try with GigabyteUSB method".

Much better.

But, while in Step 4 - (Installing bootloader to thumb drive) I selected correctly my mother as EX58-UD5, reaching Step 6 (Installing Snow Leopard) I got a window saying "The following component of Mac OS X were not found on an installation disc: Gigabyte EX58-UD5"

I repited Step 4 three times, but always I got the same sentence.

Finally, I returned again to Step 4 and instead of only select EX58-UD5 I also selected EX58A-UD7. Both.

Now installation reach the end of the process. Yeah!

 

After that I could update 10.6 to 10.6.2 via a Delta Update I previously downloaded.

No sound yet, but I will try HVX method: Remove AppleHDA.kext with Kext Utility and install VoodooHDA.kext.

I will tell you later.

Also I used nvidia 9500. No problem.

But this afternoon I will change it with a XFX ATI Radeon™ HD 5770. I hope it will be a just plug and play.

I couldn't remove AppleHDA.kext with Kext Utility. I didn't know how to.

I used Terminal:

 

sudo -s

rm -R /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext

quit

reboot

 

After that I installed VoodooHDA.kext and now I have sound.

I don't know how to remove VoodooHDA prefpane. That prefpane is 32bits and doesn't work in my machine that is 64 bits.

Anyone knows kow to?

mrjanek - anything I can do to help in official support for the EP45-DS3R? If you read my post #6 here you can see I got it working with the help of your USB package but it's not really pretty. Seems like these EP45-DS3x boards are very similar.

Yes, when chameleon shows up pres any key to stop the 3 second timer (I use arrows) then just type "arch=x86_32" without the quotes and press enter, then you boot into 32bit mode. for permanent setting you need to edit com.apple.Boot.plist in your extra folder, changing the x86_64 to x86_32 .... be careful thou, try it 1st from boot loader before you edit com.apple.Boot.plist

2 SATA Drives

2 DVD Burner- 1SATA , 1 IDE

 

but I have afterwards many trouble with the network connection- always interruption and disconnecting- so I have to restart and trying different things with no effort.

So I tried this package (EP45TUD3LR_Snow_Leopard_v4.zip) from this topic http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=196304 and after applying my network errors are gone !

 

errors not going with the above method BUT

 

now I deleted the RealtekR1000SL.kext in System\Library\Extensions

and so far stable working with Bonjour Support too

Thank you Pepechuelo for the quick reply. I did see your message above and it propelled me to write my first post! Of course it will be a few days at least before my components arrive from Newegg and a while after that for me to complete the build.

 

I do intend to try the GigabyteUSB method first. Good to hear your audio problem was solved! So the adventure begins...

DOWNLOAD USB GUIDE - Mac only

Quick rundown:

1. Create an image of your Snow Leopard disc.

2. Restore the image to your thumb drive.

3. Run the "GigabyteUSB" installer. Point it to your thumb drive.

4. Reboot. Boot from your thumb drive. Install Snow Leopard.

5. You're up and running!

 

DOWNLOAD CD/DVD GUIDE - Windows/Mac

Quick rundown:

1. Burn Gigabyte.iso to a disc.

2. Boot from the disc. Follow onscreen instructions. Install Snow Leopard.

3. Install GigabyteBoot.pkg from BootCD

4. You're up and running!

 

Ok, if I got this right, the first guide is for the hackintosh with the Snow Leopard as the only OS, and the guide #2 is for the dual boot system , Snow Leopard/Windows 7.

My question is, since I do not have an original SL DVD, but an Image, do I have to boot from the DVD in the guide #2, or I can do it from the USB flash disk, as in guide #1? Thank you

Hi all, I recently built my custom system with a gigabyte ep45t-ud3lr rev. 1.0. I have run into a few problems.

First, when the sata mode is set to ahci, the system refuses to boot ANY CD or DVD. It will try to read it for a few seconds then stop. The last message it says is "Verifying DMI pool data"

in raid mode and disabled/IDE, I can load discs from my optical drive just fine.

After being forced to use raid, I booted up and installed. For some reason the install went incredibly slow, and I have no idea why. Lastly, once it finally installed, I noticed that a Jmicron kext is needed. Is there a way to run snow without this kext and just use pure ahci mode with the ich10r southbridge?

The JMicron kext is only necessary if you use IDE devices. If you don't you can safely delete that file.

raid mode allows me to boot up but as I said, it's not perfect because when I was installing, it was halting for nearly 10 minutes on every package extrction (I watched the install log)

IDE/disabled mode doesn't get root device, so that leaves me forced to use raid. Anyone have the ep45t-ud3lr and think they can help? Thanks!

Would like to say thank you so much for this guide and installers.

 

My setup

 

OSX: Retail Snow Server 10.6

MB: EP45-UD3LR v1.0

CPU: Intel E5300

Mem: OCZ Gold ddr2 4gb 1066mhz

HD: All Sata II

1x80gb Maxtor

1x1TB Hitachi

1x1TB Samsung

1x1.5TB Seagate

GPU: Apple 7300GT (found in my local pc store)

DVD-RW: Sata Pioneer Drive

 

Everything works flawlessly.. the only issue I had was that it did not pick up my maxtor drive on chameleon bootup.

I had to mess around the ordering of the sata connection on the motherboard.. a bit of trial and error resolved that. I like booting from my usb stick so not booting from hard drive.

 

I am now thinking about updating to 10.6.2.. but not sure if it will work.

First boot from the bootcd let it load then eject, install the DVD press f5 until you see it and select Snow-Leopard and hit Enter
