rileysound
Hi there, i'm new at Hackintosh and i'm spend hours of hours in this Forum to build up my System. I use a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS4. I followed this guide to install the retail version of Snow Leopard (click me!). Everything works perfectly exept my Zotac GF9400GT. I think i have no QE/CE support and i can only use 1280x1080 resolution. If i change the resolution, i will get an black screen. The OSX Wiki told me that the GF9400GT works great with EFI String. I create a EFI String with OSX86Tools and my own NVCAP. I put this string into /Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist (I use Chameleon RC3). After the restart i will get only a black screen. What can i do to let this card perfectly run with full QE/CE support? Please help me. dio
Hello, I had the same problem than you, but with a 9800 GT With OSX86 tools I've a kernel panic, but with EFIstudio no problem it works ... try this it may help you. And the string for me is not in the Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist but in the Library/Preferences/system conf/com.apple ... And it works. Good luck Scuse me for my poor english Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/191118-efi-string-doesnt-work-for-zotac-9400gt-in-snow-leopard-retail/#findComment-1293209 Share on other sites

rileysound
you can build the string manually and place it into the boot.plistreferences herefor netkas.org > forum I think OSX86Tools can do this easier for me. Is it possible that OSX86tools produce an error in the EFI String so that i get the black screen after the reboot? idsynk
Nvidia 9400GT works with the same EFI-String in Leo +SL. Go to EFI-Studio -> Custom -> Nvidia, name it like the other Nvidia cards, enter your amount of VRAM et voila. Put it in E/E and it will work. rileysound
Put it in E/E and it will work. What did you mean with E/E? Is it possible that the DSDT.aml overrride the String in boot.plist? I removed the graphic enabler string from the boot.plist. rileysound
I had fixed that issue. I have added my device id to the /System/Library/Extensions/NVDANV* and added the EFI String to the /Extra/com.apple.Bootlist.plist. Everything works perfect. OpenGL und QE/CE is working. I'm very happy about my new Hackintosh System.
