Hello!

I have problem with memory identify.

My memories are running on 800Mhz, but they are 1066Mhz.

If I copy kext to E/E, nothing happend.

If I change smbios.plist, nothing happend.

Which kext will be use?

Thx.

How do you say its running at 800mhz?

If you saw it in about this mac, then its not a thing to worry.

It sometimes detects the wrong info.

It can easily be modified to anything you want.

Osx86tools was able to do that but this feature is not working for in snow leopard.

but finally what will it change that i use DSDT.aml ?

thx

I didn't understand your question completely, but heres the answer to what i think you asked.

The DSDT in the bios is not completely compatible with OSX.

OSX utilizes only a subset of the acpi standard.

So to make it compatible we generate this custom DSDT.aml which makes it OSX compatible.

Most of the times it just differs by a few lines of code.

As in the case of this board i removed only four lines which just added aliases for the cpu cores which wouldn't let me boot OSX.

I've followed this guide, and installed 10.6 successfully, though I've got a couple of issues. Here's my hardware:

p5q deluxe - with p5q-asus-deluxe-2201_slic_mac.rom installed from original post

Q9550

Geforce 8800 GT

1. Sound. Not working. I tried the AppleHDA.kext included in the OP, and later with jasjeet's kexts from here, and finally with VoodoHDA, but no dice. I'm not sure if this is a efi string issue, or a BIOS thing, since my graphics card wasn't being recognized (stuck at 1024*768) until I used EFIStudio to get my 8800GTs EFI info and write to the boot plist. I did the same with HDEF, but it doesn't seem to have helped.

2. Booting. It boots fine as long as I boot initially off of the USB key I prepared for installation (selecting the HD with SL on it from the boot menu), but if I boot directly off the HD (after duplicating the steps for the USB here, but with the HD instead of the USB key), it hangs on startup. The last line it gets to booting with -v is:

"Ethernet [AppleYukon2]: Link up on en0, 1-Gigabit, Full-duplex, Symmetric flow-control, Debug [796d,af48,0de1,0200,cde1,2c00]"

Then it stops seemingly forever.

I did have trouble getting Ethernet to work in the first place. I think I used jajeet's links to AppleYukon2Injector.kext and IoNetworkingFamily.kext from here - #57. Again I used EFIStudio to write the Ethernet info it found to the boot plist.

So any thoughts?

Don't know why you are having problems with sound.

I can get sound with jasjeets's kexts applehda as well as ones from the king.

Haven't tried voodohda.

Is the sound card being recognised.

For me although the sound card is being recognized not all outputs work.

I get output in only 3 jacks and the front panel doesn't work either.

Maybe thats your problem.

For booting from your hdd try booting with -v -f parameters.

I don't get any sound devices at all in the SysPrefs.

Booting with -v -f, it now stops at "Waiting for DSMOS...", immediately after the last line that it hung at ("Ethernet [AppleYukon2]:....etc."). Googling that led to this thread, but after trying what he did in that thread and rebooting, it gets stuck at the "Ethernet ... " line again.

edit: I don't know if this matters, but I noticed that jasjeet's solution involved one kext in /System/Library/Extensions, and two in /E/E/, which I presume is /Extra/Extensions? However, I didn't have anything in /Extra (folder was empty), so I created /Extra/Extensions by hand, and then 'sudo chown -R root:wheel /Extra'.

Also, whenever I sudo, I get : "sudo[149:903] _CFGetHostUUIDString: unable to determine UUID for host. Error: 35", but it still seems to execute the command. Is this a problem?

the /extra folder should not be empty.

Copy thwe /extra folder from the usb drive or get the appropriate content from the first post

You will if you don't use a modified bios else you probably don't need it.

I don't know who you meant as he.

You need to copy the Extra folder from the USB drive to the Snow Drive. Then use Kext Util to fix permissions. Then it will boot. I had this problem and this fixed it.

almost everything worked for me! all im missing is the sound kext didn't work and i think the videocard couls do better. as it does in 10.5.8.

Well many people are having troubles with sound.

Have you tried all the methods posted here?

What do you mean by graphics could be better?

Where did you get the other bios?

I couldn't find any other than the one i posted.

The parameter is -v not -V

i uploaded the bios that worked for me..

http://glitch.myhostclub.com/files/mod%20bios.zip

i got my sound working !

but i can't get my IDE ROM and Hard Drive to show up.

on my last hackintosh (ideneb10.5.7) i had to add VIA/SiS/Marvell/Uli under chipset for it to show..

Is there any way i can install this kext on my new SL install ?

Thanks. This fixed the booting problem. I didn't realize I needed to copy the /Extra folder manually.

So booting and ethernet work fine. I actually reinstalled from scratch just to get a sense of exactly what steps needed to be taken:

-out of the box, graphics stuck at 1024, ethernet and sound don't work. I tried copying the OP's com.apple.Boot.plist to "/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/", but no help there. Not surprising perhaps, since he has a 9600, and I have an 8800. I used EFIStudio and wrote its generated values for graphics and Ethernet to com.apple.Boot.plist.

-OP method for Ethernet works, but only once I run Kext Utility. Repairing permissions manually doesn't seem to work.

-Sound doesn't work with OP's AppleHDA.kext. One thing though - when I run EFIStudio just after installation, it gives an error when trying to add HDEF or AZAL to com.apple.Boot.plist, saying:

Device path not found!

AZAL not available on this machine

Once I installed OP's AppleHDA.kext, it finds HDEF but not AZAL. I'm wondering if this is significant?

-sudo still gives me an error. I found the new UUID via Disk Utility, and pasted its values in to /Extra/Extensions/PlatformUUID.kext/Contents/Info.plist, and then ran Kext Utility again, but it's still giving me an error. Do I need to install PlatformUUID.kext with the Kext Utility, or is just having it in /Extra/Extensions enough?

Good God, I made it work.

Just deleted all the ATI*.kext's in /System/Library/Extensions/

But, because of my PS/2 keyboard, It says that I need to connect the keyboard first. So I went to Chameleon site and downloaded a package named VoodooPS2.pkg and installed it.

Now it won't boot again. And I'm really pissed.cjsejklcvwecj2klvlSCREWTHIS

I had the same problem as you. So I deleted all the ATI*.Kext's. And it seems to be working.

But after the Installation I got the message: "The Installation was not successfully".

In addition I could not start the Mac System. Can anyone help me??

mainboard : Asus p5q Deluxe

cpu : intel 9550 QuadCore

vga : ati radeon 4870

ram : 4 GB

hdd : 2 x SATA
