it's been a while :unsure:

Well it's been only minutes since I've gotten it working, but after a few days of just toying around with installing and getting kernel panics i've finally been able to get into Snow leopard and be able to register and mess around it

i installed it with by restoring the .dmg to an empty partition

used chameleon 2 rc1 (didn't even need pc_efi)

after the install is finish didn't reboot, but replaced IOATAFamily.kext with the one from my leopard install (if that doesn't work try deleting it) and deleted the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext

and then booted using: -f (that's it!)

it's a start and hopefully update this with more good news soon

@coolguy1

i used my leopard partition to install

i restored the image to a partition and used a custom osinstall.mpkg

search it

@paween

no i'm not using a patched DSDT.aml

try this guide http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...p;#entry1252131

I used Snow Universal 3.5 pacakge. It make my Dell Vostro 1310 great!

Display is fine. Wireless patch by bcm43xx_enabler.sh is fine as well.

I'm looking for sound alc268.

And I can't patch DSDT, so my bios has been reset every shutdown time.

just wondering what exactly did you do to be able to install SL on your Vostro 1400.

Im trying to do the same thing on my 1400, but everytime i boot the SL install partition, i get a kernel panic.

what exactly does the kernel panic say?

Oh yes! Thank you so much. I've tried which you suggested. It made my battery indicator show.

Anyway, my battery status is "Service Battery". Maybe something wrong with this driver.

But it's better than no have.

yeah no problem..

i'm having the "service battery" thing too, but then again i have a pretty old battery, so it may actually be your battery.

This looks very tempting, I was waiting for iatkos to make their release on SL.

I currently have iatkos 5i installed, it was such a breeze.

Why dont you guys (who successfully installed SL) write a simple guide for us 1400 owners. Copy and Paste steps from other pages if needed, would really appreciate it.

@mythamp

i'll probably be able to make a guide by the end of this week, i'm currently busy with school and stuff...so we'll see how it goes, it's actually fairly simple once you kinda get to know some stuff..

@delirumhappy

yes the voodoops2controller works perfectly fine for me, i just had to edit one little thing inside of it

when i make the guide i'll show how to

@ericCW

i got it from this site, i'd recommend just installing it..if it goes wrong..you just won't be able to see the battery..which is pretty much pointless...if it works..then :)

Try Chamelon RC3 w/ the following entry in apple.boot.plist:

<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>

<string>y</string>

Most ppl have success w/ it.

Didn't work...

Do you know if those guys used the DSDT patch? Or did they use a custom SMBIOS?

EDIT: Well i applied the DSDT patch and added the SMBIOS.plist in my ./Extra/Extensions

and unfortunately I still dont have full support for my GFX

Is my related to using the NVinject.kext? cause I remember when i was on 10.5.4 my 8400m gs had FULL QE/CI support (using the 10.5.2 NVIDIA kexts)
