hi,

now that I have got OS X set up fully etc... I am looking for a bit of help with some specific applications.

What I want to know is : Do these applications run on X86 hardware?

Openoffice.org 2.0 (or whatever the latest release is)

Adobe Photoshop CS / CS2 (also where do I buy it from and how do I know ive got the correct version?)

Google Sketchup

AutoCAD

I would really like to know if these apps work on X86 OSX. If they do it means I can completely switch :)

is rosetta built into OS X, or do i need to buy that first before installing photoshop?

Rosetta is integrated to all installations of OS X for Intel. It runs in the background, so you don't know that it's running. You should be fine with Photoshop.

Ok, thats brill. also, I installed VPC 7, and it seemed to install ok, but I cant find it anywhere on my system - does anybody know how to launch it?

VPC doesn't work on Intel Macs yet. You'll have to wait until VPC 8. In the mean time, you can use Parallels workstation to run Windows.
