Hello. I propose to open topic about installation on this nootebook (Mac Air Clone). I share my experience about installing.

Specification

Intel Core 2 Solo Processor

Intel GS45 + ICH9M-SFF

2GB max of DDR2 667/800

TFT-LCD Display, 16:9 widescreen1366x768

2.5 in. 320GB SATA

1.3 megapixel webcam

2-in1 Card Reader (SD/SDHC/MMC

Built-in Gigabit Ethernet LAN and Modem Module

Built-in 802.11b/g/n WLAN Card, Bluetooth is optional

Ports: 1 D-Sub; 2 USB 2.0; 1 Mic-in; 1 Headphone Out; 1 HDMI Por; 1 LANTried 10.5.2, 10.5.4,

Installed 10.5.6, 10.5.7, 10.5.8 builds from iAtkos, IPC, Leo4All, iDeneb

Installed without any problem and worked very fast after logon without any kernel panics.

Problems:

1: 5-6 minutes booting (due to absence of VGA and wi-fi driver I suppose) stuck on IOKit timeout error. Till this moment and after fast boot without any problems.

can't identify devices

2: No wi-fi and vga driver. 1024x768 resolution.

I tried linux boot manager fix and x3100 modified kext (with these kexts blue screen on logon and nothing happens) for VGA nothing help.

Sound, Lan, usb, bluetooth working perfectly as keyboard and touchpad.

battery and sound kexts from Voodoo Project available in last builds.

Tried to find a solution for vga and wi-fi. Spent about week on this (read a lot of topics). And at the end install Windows 7 till the following drivers will be made

I can live without VGA and wi-fi but 5-6 minutes boot it's borring. For info. Have a big experience in installing hackintosh on PC, notebooks, netbooks.

Ok. Let's starting to solve following problems to finally get a fully working notebook.

I have the same pc x340, wich configuration you used to hackintosch?

I didn't use usb flash as if I recover Leopard on x-slim's partition from my PC backup with R-drive image software. The other working method is to restore install hackintosh iso on usb flash drive with disk utility in mac I have macbook and did it. By the way don't recommend you to install mac in a way wi-fi and video drivers not exist (video patch - only native resolution no acceleration). Install Win 7, working like a charm to the moment when drivers will be made.

Jack-Black, can you upload your backup of Leo? ;) And what do you think about Snow Leopard on X-Slim X340?

No I can't it's 30Gb backup image. :) If it's not boot and dark screen you did smth wrong. Anyway you need Mac PC to do this. I'll recomend you buy any dvdrw usb drive for 40-50$ to do this best.

i am testing video patch on x340: full (native) resolution, but i cant play any video (avi dvix xvid ecc.) on quicktime and VLC.

some help?

mik

DivX, xvid, mpeg, mkv and others codecs for quicktime. All in one.

http://perian.org/

this is fine on my x340

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=173338.

something about suspend, and webcam?

mik

Webcam will work only with x4500 acceleration enabled (another words Quartz Extreme enabled). Suspend depend on acceleration too.

I know the way now how to get wi-fi working it's very simple just replace internal wi-fi module with compatible one. You can do it in service or yourself (but say bye bye your warranty). Below I show picture where this one is located and replace with those:

I use "Google Translation" to join this forum.

Upon its release, the MSI X340 was deemed incompatible with distribution Hackintosh

Moreover, its keyboard was very bad and especially the fan walked continuously with a noisy hard drive.

Under Hackintosh, fan and hard drive are they noisy?

Maybe the noisy fan depend on revision. My one is silent. Keyboard is bad enough I agree but I fixed this with long stainless plate. Now it's good for touching... and not bend when you typing :)

Can't see your video in a cause "The URL contained a malformed video ID."

About keyboard fix. I used stainless steel plate with 0.5mm thickness and assembly double side tape ( 0.2mm tape). This plate deаdly keep bad aluminum keyboard's surface and now it's not bend. Very nice click :)

i have some problem with battery recognition. i tested some 'battery manager' package but i cant see the battery life in the taskbar.

with 'power management 10.5.3' at first time seems ok, but after a reboot kernel panic.

now in use a battery manager of ideneb 10.5.6 but in the task bar is a space and clicking i see 'no battery found'.

(i work with installed ideneb 10.5.8 lite)

where i can find a battery manager for my x340?

thanks all (expecially jack black)

nothing for the long long boot time?

The same problem with long boot. I noticed that long boot on all 10.5.x Leopard builds. But it's also depend on notebook revision. For example on other it's boot quickly. Another words I can't resolve this problem (removed all kexts one by one - no success long boot. Funny but in Snow Leopard this problem absent.) and installed SL on inactive partition.

I posted image and video of fixed keyboard.

About Mac OS X. I installed a lot of 10.5.x Leopard builds from iAtkos, HTC, iDeneb and others. Result - 5 mins boot. I tried to replace, delete, edit kexts as result - nothing help (long boot). Yesterday I got SL 10.6.2 working with x3100 patched file (native resolution) now only 2 things left wi-fi and QE/CI acceleration. I posted image and video of how it's working. P.S. Leopard despite on long boot playing DivX files little better then SL.

About Windows 7. For this moment it's best choice for this laptop as if it plays all video formats without lagging. Even 1920x1080 working well (only MKV Full HD - freezing, 720p running good) + a greet amount of software and most important thing - it's very stable and fast.

Pictures and video here.

For this moment I stop to do experiment as if it's useless (I don't need lagging video and no Wi-Fi). I left Snow Leo on inactive HDD's partition for booting when situation with driver will change. 5 months and no driver for wi-fi and x4500. Now I doubt that it will be done (maybe only wi-fi). Continue patiently to wait for drivers for at least fully working X4500 (as if wi-fi card can be replaced with working one).
