Bansaku
Of course is PC-EFI build in GraphicEnabler enabled, if it is not so, my computer fail to boot. I have no problems with my videocard, can well play any games, except the sleep problem. Vendor ID: ATI (0x1002) Device ID: 0x9440 is what System profiler tell me. This card is probably not reference. The sleepenabler has also never worked. That's the exact same as my card, and the vendor/device id is in ATI4800controller.kext by default. I was basically going down the list of my own troubleshoots to get my 4870 working. So, something else is killing sleep. Did you use any GFX strings at all? Is your DSDT properly patched for HPET and USB fixes? Maybe try using the IOPCIFamily.kext I posted yesterday on this forum. Are you serious? That's awesome! Which CPU cooler are you using? It's listed in my signature. But, I will tell you anyway. Zalman CNPS9700. Using the Fanmate 2 controller I have the fan set to lowest (silent mode) and have noticed absolutely no difference in temp drop if I had it running at full speed. My i7 860 runs at a cool 35'c (as I type this) at stock speed reaching 63'c at full load. OC to 3.5GHz temps are 44'c and 77'c at full load (with spikes up to 80). I also have a question regarding KP on restart after I wake. At random my system will KP when I restart if I slept the computer at any point. At first I was getting KP at random, then after recompiling my DSDT KP would come after I wake ranging from a few seconds after to a few minutes. So, I repaired and set permissions using the terminal script and used kextutility as well. All is fine, for the most part. I can sleep and wake system multiple times, doing stress tests each time after wake, and even slept my computer over night and it woke fine. Now, random KP occur when I restart. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it does not. Any suggestions? For once I am at a loss. Related note. I notice that after I wake and got a KP (seems to be resolved, for now) the cursor would go to the colour wheel right before it panicked, every time. I could tell right away that a KP was eminent. Now when I wake the cursor is just the arrow, and all is good. Anyone else notice this? wlp5
Has anyone figured out a way to install it without access to a working osx installation? I have multiple pcs, hard-drives, etc. just not an osx around that I can use. Will any of ideneb/iatkos boot to give me a way to install 10.6.2 to another hard drive? I tried but couldn't get the installation dvds to boot. It would be great help if someone could verify that one of them did so I can focus my efforts on that one. My system is a UD2/i5. lordduckx
Hey Guys I have the new p55a ud4p from Gigabyte (and i7 860) and was wondering if you guys could help me out with the build. I'm currently trying Empire EFI, which works, until i get a still waiting for root device error. I tried a couple things in the bios, plus moving around the sata ports, but nothing seemed to do the trick. I'm not adverse to doing Tony's method, I just have to wait till I get a break from school to try it. this is my first actual build, although I have generally followed for a while any help would be much appreciated! The easiest way to install Snow Leopard is to do so from an active OS X install. I recommend iDeneb Lite 10.5.8 V1.6 as it is more generic with the kexts and it has Qoopz Kernel 9.8 which is needed for the i5/i7 as well as the Chameleon 2 bootloader. Make sure you boot with busratio=20 boot flag. Hey Guys I have the new p55a ud4p from Gigabyte (and i7 860) and was wondering if you guys could help me out with the build. If you have a computer that can burn an ISO file (windows can but it may need additional software), then you can use Empire EFI, which allows you to download a small file to burn to a CD. Then you boot from that CD, eject and insert a retail 10.6 disk, and continue with the Installation. After intall, you put back in the EmpireEFI disk and use it to boot the HDD you just installed onto. It is very easy. And the EmpireEFI disk has a package installer on it called myHack to allow you to boot without the disk. tempus66
Hello all, I'm totally new to Hackintosh and I'm still trying to figure out boot files, dsdt, pc EFI, chameleon etc. but reading up and gradually getting a better idea of how it should all work. I'm thinking of building a i5 750, Gigabyte P55M-UD4, SL 10.6.2., ATI 4670? I have two questions: 1. I don't think I need that much graphics power so I was just thinking of getting an ATI 4670. My questions is - given that the new iMac's use the 4670 would it most probably work fairly well? I read early adopters of 4670 and how there were black screen issues etc. I don't see that much here, but most of you seem to be running some variation of 48xx. I'm willing to go with a 48xx if it would save me a lot of headaches, but would prefer to use a 4670 if possible. 2. I have a 10.6.0 disk and was looking into patching it to a 10.6.2 (so the drivers/kext for 4670 would hopefully be present as wells as P55, i5 750 etc). For Windows, I'm use to "slipstreaming" the service packs into a Windows Install disk image, but I couldn't find something like that for Mac. The closest thing I've found is NetInstall and System Image Utility from Apple. I used my disk to make an image and I think I've patched it with the 10.6.2 combo update. I get a disk image that seems bigger (7.2gb), but of course not having built my hackintosh yet, I have no idea whether this works. I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere so I thought perhaps knowledgeable folk might be kind enough to tell me why this would not work... I'm just thinking that this way I'll have a OS that is built to work with Intel i5, P55 and ATI 4670 thus increasing my chances of success. Thanks. Just got my new SATA DVD drive today and tried EmpireEFI v8- it never worked for me before, but this time booted right into the installer. I've tried and failed to make a proper Boot-132 Chameleon CD to boot P55s- guess it was always my IDE drive. Props to Prasys- that is a fine piece of software! Think I just found my new favourite install method. aushack
Rich, I am glad my DSDT provided a good starting point for you. I would suggest you use DSDTSE and go through the code to check that all the patches you want are there. After you boot, open DSDTSE and Extract DSDT, this way you know that you are patching the DSDT file that is actually been used. Go through tonymac's list of patches and make sure they are all there. For audio, I finally managed to get AppleHDA to work following treky's post on page 33 of this thread. The sound is much cleaner than VoodooHDA with no cracking. Try and see if that method works for you, make sure you use AppleHDA version 1.7.4a1 (from 10.6 and 10.6.1). Sleep almost works. It works if you manually put the computer to sleep but not if you let the computer sit and wait until it goes to sleep on its own. thanks for that. ive tried AppleHDA and LegacyHDA following trekey's steps, but not working, and using VoodooHDA doesnt work now either when it used to, must be due to the DSDT im using for the UD4P on tonymacx86's DSDT database. i cant work out why your the DSDT im using for my motherboard doesnt work for audio and sleep? ive tried following the DSDT guide but its pretty overwhelming and i cant work out what im supposed to replace exactly. i get the first guide where you add in code to enable hacking and stop the CMOS from clearing, but i dont know what to do after this? where get the DSDT code i need? what do i replace? hi rekursor or anyone. just quickly does the ouput of ioreg disclose any personal information such as serial nos or the like? or is it hardware information and the same for every iMac model? just a quick bump. anyone know if an ioreg -lw0 dump exposes any other information other than the serial number? my buddy is consious and i will just edit out his serial number if thats the only personal info. then you guys can have an iroeg dump of an i7 iMac! All speedstep/turbo options turned on in bios. Why do you prefer the MacPro 4,1 to iMac 11,1? What files did you modify for that? I checked IOPCIFamily.kext but didn't see any reference to MacPro or iMac. smbios.plist is the only place where I have seen a reference to the machine name. 9980 is really impressive with no OC. arynjon
Hi all, Thanks to Tonymac, I was able to get my new i5 hack almost perfect. I'm now using LegacyHDA in combination with a modded DSDT. Sound now works great. Sleep is not working correctly yet, but it may be a while before I get a chance to do much else with it. The computer is very stable and fast. Thanks again to Tony and all the contributors to this thread. I'll post updates as I get time to play around with my settings. I eventually hope to edit the DSDT for speedstep to work correctly with my i5 and, hopefully sleep working - although sleep is not a dealbreaker. One other thing that I'd like to do is to edit the DSDT for my graphics card (a Zotac NVidia 9500GT dual-DVI and TV out with 1 GB Ram). I haven't really done any googling yet, but if anyone has a link to a guide or thread here on insanelymac, I'd appreciate it. vicentefoxxx
System: i5, MSI P55-GD65, 4GB 1333 RAM, NVidia 9500GT dual-DVI and TV out with 1 GB Ram, 1 TB WD Green HD Hi I have also the same video card and sleeping was not working i did what Bansaku recomended in page 46 removing nvenabler and nvenabler 64 and i installed NVDANV50Hal.kext and NVDAResman.kext from 10.6.1 version but still it was not working and i don´t know why the card keeps changing the colors, one screen looks with a green hue and the other one changes the color of pictures videos and webpages. i am working with dual monitors. Then i reinstalled nvenabler and nveanbler 64 and the colors are back to normallity but still sleep was not working. then i check the bios settings of tonymacx86´s blog and put the same data, i had power on by mouse and by keyboard enabled and after changing it to disabled sleep starts working now but the card changes the colors after waking up I think there is a strange problem with this specific card. Do you have also problems with the colors in the monitors? I google to find a solution but untill now a have not find any i you find how to insert the dsdt for the card please let me know. check tony´s blog maybe it can solve your problem this is the page http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2009/11/os-...ing-retail.html Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/176155-new-intel-p55-mobos-core-i7-860-i5-750-cpu-lga1156/page/38/#findComment-1354094 Share on other sites
arynjon
I have same mobo as you and very big problems with audio. What version legacyhda you use? Do you work on dsdt to msi p55-gd65 from tonymac's page? What version AppleHDA do you use? 10.6.2 AppleHDA, or the one from 10.6.0/1? Check your personal messages for a link to the files I used. Although, they are similar to the files posted here above. I use the stock 10.6.2 Apple HDA. HiI have also the same video card and sleeping was not working i did what Bansaku recomended in page 46 removing nvenabler and nvenabler 64 and i installed NVDANV50Hal.kext and NVDAResman.kext from 10.6.1 version but still it was not working and i dont know why the card keeps changing the colors, one screen looks with a green hue and the other one changes the color of pictures videos and webpages. i am working with dual monitors. I can't comment on the video card issue. My computer simply restarts after sleep. No strange colors here. I'll update after I do more testing, but it might be a few days. For now, I'm happy that it is working great... except for sleep. That is strange, I have the same board (MSI P55-GD65). I am using the DSDT from Tonys page and the legacyHDA I posted, it works for me. I am on the latest MSI bios (version 1.5). Make sure you have AppleHDA in the System/Libary/Extensions. I have attached my AppleHda.kext. This is great, I have everything working, sleep, speedstep and sound. I will attach my Extra folder, maybe it will help some in need. I wanted to thank everyone for the hard work. This forum has come a long way in the last couple of months. Thanks, Thanks for the files.... so I can do more experimenting. One quick question: Do I need to use the sleepenabler kext to use sleep, or is the DSDT enough? thanks again!
