Anyways I was wondering what steps I have to make after I get my card, anything specific, or it should work out of the box? No need for reinstall or anything like that? dewdoobrown
I have the same card. You have to modify the kext file to make it work, and also 256mv vram will be seen. Not the whole 512mb Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/16643-sapphire-radeon-x1600-pro-512mb-agp/#findComment-107299 Share on other sites

RobNyc
But this is the x1600 PRo 512mb AGP card not the x1000 so why would somebody use an older driver? schrepfler
The x1000 driver handles all chips of the x1000 generation (except perhaps the 1300). You need the driver for the X1000 generation. RobNyc
I copied with pacific the ATIRadeonXXXX to my Extensions Folder which I had remove before. I hope this callisto b002 + qe/ci works , since I already am running with callisto I'm going to ATIRadeonX1000GA.Plugin to edit the IONDRVFrameBuffer to the CallistoFB , like omni has in his site. If it doesnt work I'm gonna run this using your method hopefully I can do it easy Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/16643-sapphire-radeon-x1600-pro-512mb-agp/#findComment-109851 Share on other sites
RobNyc
Ok, i did that . It wasnt really working with callisto b002 (too bad) I got QE/CI fully working but a lot of artifacts/tearing so I rather not have this Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/16643-sapphire-radeon-x1600-pro-512mb-agp/#findComment-109892 Share on other sites
schrepfler
It's either VESA with no tearing and no acceleation or acceleration with tearing. I haven't seen anyone else have both ways. oldschool
No problem, I belive there are still no easy solutions to refresh rate and resolution problems. refresh rate is the prob... 60Hz and i am gonna be blind. screen resolution? i made it with the boot-config. RobNyc
well yea you guys have it right I dont care about qe/ci that much since resolution will only be 1024x768 atm and too much tearing . So i rather have a way it detects my card even without qe/ci but soon we hope for qe/ci too, but have 1440x900, 1400x1050, 1680x1050 display modes cuz I have a 19" lcd widescreen (native is 1440x900) but 1680x1050 is a widescreen res too so I would use that. But osx is detecting my lcd as crt with DVI or VGA connection. It should recognize it as LCD through DVI with no probs but time will tell Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/16643-sapphire-radeon-x1600-pro-512mb-agp/#findComment-110307 Share on other sites
schrepfler
Rob, it's not that you can't set you resolution, it's just that you have to set it in the kernel loader. That way I guess you could have higher resolutions no problem. Just edit the Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist according the first article on my blog I've posted above. borez
Just to check, anyone managed to get 1680x1050x32 working successfully using the Graphics Mode method? I tried that, but the highest that I could go was only 1400x1050.. I remember that there is an command to key in during the boot prompt to display the supported resolutions and refresh rates, but I forgot about that.. Anyone can care to share on that?
