ATI Radeon HD pkg installers 10.5.x & 10.6

I've ran the new 48xx drivers on a 3650 mobility and I report the system boots in the familiar chess pattern.

    Installation on ASUS M50SA

I recently got an external hdd, I've managed to install iPC 10.5.6 to boot with vesa graphics 1400x1050 (the monitor can go up to 1680x1050) and audio with azelia drivers. No luck yet with the integrated marvell 88E8056 even though there are drivers, they don't start. The wireless drivers for 4965 are almost useless without security, and they seem to be causing an avalanche of messages on loading, probably doing more harm than good. I haven't found a solution for the radeon hd 3650 mobility. In the old days one could poke the pci id's and make a driver work, now in the natit drivers we see cryptic configurations that we have no idea what they do. Anyhow, upon installation of the drivers (the test 1 package by natit) the monitor gets filled with a pattern of squares (yellow and blue I think), no signal output on either VGA or HDMI port. At least the device id in natit is correct (0x9591) so if support ever gets done for other 3650-s, chances are the asus m50sa will be compatible.

    Installation on ASUS M50SA

Yes, I can confirm that with leo4all I've gotten to the installer. I can't do the installation right now but when I get back to it I'll post further updates.
  4. Has anyone had any success in installing macosx on e Asus M50SA notebook? I've tried iatkos v2 and Kalyway 10.5.2 but with no success, iatkos boots the graphics but once the gray spinner kicks in it just continues forever, kalyway 10.5.2 just freezes, tried with the different kernels, cpus=1 and acpi=off. I've noticed also that people talk about bios modifications http://osrom.net/biosmod/ in order to enable two cpu's so that makes me hopeful that someone has managed to install it even with one cpu enabled. The bios site features a M50S bios but it would seem it is for the nvidia model M50Sn not the M50Sa (ati inside), do these two laptops feature the same bios? Thanks

    Leopard Build 9A321 has leaked!

Would this build be installable on generic PC's or Intel Mac's only? Is this dmg file an iso image or does one need to have a prior installation of MacOS?

1.2 Tulip Ethernet Driver for 10.4.3 and up

I don't think I had any problems just unzip the driver and put it in /System/Library/Extensions . Reboot. I don't remember if I had to delete the driver cache.

    Apple Denies Closing Kernel

It's clean and simple, BSD means you can close your sources whenever you want. As the MacOS is not based on any OS that has the GPL licence it's not in violation with it.
  11. Can you give us a link where we can find them?
  12. I have read someone mentioning the koverg, however I don't know if it applies to the X1000 series of graphic cards. If anyone comments and it works with the Sapphire Radeon X1600 AGP I'd be glad to add it to the blog. However I doubt it.
  13. No problem guys, I'm glad if the instructions helped I'll include the "how to delete a file in *nix/linux" tip

Marvell Yukon 8001 - the driver

I don't think there is one, this is the port of the skge driver from linux so look for something like skge.kext . Yukon is for the yukon2 chipsets (this is for the yukon1's but no one is calling the yukons). Check wheter this driver applies for your network interface. These are the comments you can get from the linux kernel on chipset support: SKGE config comments: It does not support the link failover and network management features that "portable" vendor supplied sk98lin driver does. + This driver supports adapters based on the original Yukon chipset: + Marvell 88E8001, Belkin F5D5005, CNet GigaCard, DLink DGE-530T, + Linksys EG1032/EG1064, 3Com 3C940/3C940B, SysKonnect SK-9871/9872. + + It does not support the newer Yukon2 chipset: a separate driver, + sky2, is provided for Yukon2-based adapters.
  15. Rob, it's not that you can't set you resolution, it's just that you have to set it in the kernel loader. That way I guess you could have higher resolutions no problem. Just edit the Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist according the first article on my blog I've posted above.
