Colonel
There hasn't been a server release for x86 yet. I think one the Intel Xserve comes out, then we should be able to find a way. Shimms
You can install OS X x86 then install the server packages over the top of it, although all the server apps are PowerPC. I've done it, and it works really well. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/16341-mac-osx86-tiger-server/#findComment-105219 Share on other sites

domino
What exactly are your intentions? To run a file server on your network or use it as a professional webserver? If you want to just develop websites and run a local webserver, MMAMP is now universal. You can go a step further and Install Parallels and run a full blown Linux server for file and web server complete with apache2, php, sql lite, mysql, dns server, ftp server, ect. Nightwing
Has anybody attempted to install OSX86ServerInstall.mpkg onto 10.4.6 client yet? I run the installer and all is well up untill it offers me the choice of partition to install to, then complains that it can't verify the disk, etc. Running native myz 10.4.4 + 10.4.5 updated to myz 10.4.6 [update, not full {amd & intel}] on an Acer Aspire 3610 series [more exact 3613LCi] laptop. Celeron M 370 1.5Ghz, 400mhz fsb, 1mb l2 cache, sse2, emulating sse3, 40gb western digital HDD, 256mb SD DDR2, Intel 915 vga, RTL8139, BRCM4318 pci14e4,4318. Non-dual booted, just running straight OS X. Everything works flawless after minor tweaking, wireless, ci,qe,etc. Tried repairing permissions and verifying disk, etc. No change. I wonder if a value change in Info.plist my assist it any further along..? Any guesses? Google has failed me so far in regards of checking if OSX86ServerInstall.mpkg is even compatable. I can't find any instance of anyone even trying since 10.4.3 actually, so ANY info at all is welcomed. Have tried reading previous posts too. Nothing useful. And I believe this to be the newest thread on the topic so.. Worst yet...coffee flavored coffee ain't helping me to figure it all out either. lol.
