Konami®
I was checking the iMac configuration in the Apple Store site, and for my surprise, they charge you over a thousand dollars only for the 8GB of ram, is Apple smoking weed??? that's insane Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/161906-over-a-thousand-dollars-for-only-the-ram/ Share on other sites
MGJulius
Why pay $1100 when you can get the same ram for $700 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/161906-over-a-thousand-dollars-for-only-the-ram/#findComment-1131774 Share on other sites
Konami®
that's still expensive, the thing that I don't get is Apple give you 4GB of ram for $100 dollars more, but jump to $1,100 for 8GB, that's crazy. I think less than $400 for 8GB is fair. Tony Stark
Its so expensive because of the fact 4G Ram sticks have only just come out, they haven't had time to get cheap Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/161906-over-a-thousand-dollars-for-only-the-ram/#findComment-1132028 Share on other sites
JBLanteigne
1 000$ is nothing, before they update the mac pro (aka about 1 month ago i think) the prices were even more ridiculous. something like 9200$ extra to get 32gb ram (8x 4gb ddr2) instead of the 2 or 4gb that comes with it normally. the price of their out dated video card was also very funny... and they were asking about 500$ for a 1tb hdd... The thing is apple don't change their prices unless they update their product. So 1-2 months ago, that mac pro was getting really old, but still sold at prime price. Erm the old Mac Pro didn't use DDR2 memory it used FBDIMMS, normally only used in servers hence it is very expensive. Even from crucial it costs $273.99 for 8GB Apple do charge more for ram than anyone else. 530sCheapMac
Up here in igloo land, the upgrade costs $1200, and newegg ships the linked RAM for $550/4GB stick. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?...N82E16820233082 down in America, there is a 360 dollar discrepancy. But whatever. If you want 8GB, get the sticks yourself, save the money, and quit bitching.
