Hello to all!

I have an Apple Mighty Mouse and I tried to install.. Now problem is that you must have 10.4.2 for installation and OS X x86 is 10.4.1 - Now, someone know's a way to install?

Or is there an update of 10.4.2 in circulation that works?

(Mouse is working without installation, but you can't pogramm all buttons)

According to Apple's website on the mouse:

Mac OS X v10.4.2 or later Enable or disable scrolling, assign primary and secondary buttons, activate Exposé, display Dashboard, open Spotlight, switch applications or open applications.

Mac OS X v10.3.9 or 10.4.1 and earlier Assign primary and secondary buttons and activate Exposé. Display Dashboard in Mac OS X v10.4 or 10.4.1.

I dont mean that there isnt some way to fix this (i honestly dont know), but the above is straight from the horses mouth so to speak. You might be out of luck unless Apple upgrades their dev kit to a later version sometime soon.

Hmm, thanks for your answer. but what do you think, will apple ever upgrade the x86 version?

I think it would be reasonable to assume that they will upgrade the x86 version of OSX considering their goal is to do a complete switch to x86 over the next year or so.

And saying such, its not a matter of 'if', but rather 'when'.

If you noticed...this thread is quite old (Last post was beginning of September). OSX 86 10.4.3 is out now so the issue is probably solved since that was the requirement for the mouse software. You might want to get someone to confirm that it installs under OSX 86 at all though but I would assume it would since they are probably testing with it on the dev boxes.

I just bought one of this. I plugged it in and it is working OK, the Keyboard/Mouse preferences pane even shows a pic of the mouse. I know that advice, "if it is not broken, don't fix it", however, the user guide says that I must to install the software provided in the CD to take advantage of all the features. Do you guys think that's really necessary? If so, how do I know if it is hackintosh-compatible?
