AndrewNZ
Turns out that his health is in worse shape than he believed a week ago. Steve Jobs has stepped down as CEO and Tim Cook is now acting CEO, with Jobs as a mentor/advisor. There's a fair degree of scepticism about the June timeframe around the web - seems to be a suspicion that the June timeframe has been floated to soften the probability that SJ's reign at Apple is over and take the pressure off aapl stock which is widely expected to lose 25% of it's value against news of his permanent departure. This way, they're possibly easing into the bad news, and when June finally arrives, they can just announce that the recovery period is being extended, and so on ad infinitum. That's sheer speculation of course, but given the secrecy surrounding Jobs's cancer in 2004*, it would surprise few people if that's what they're doing. Aapl stock was down ~9.5% in after hours trading. *Whoops - I had the wrong year there. Changed from 2003 to 2004. munky
It is both humbling and sad to be reminded that no matter how insanely great one's intellect may be, it is still housed in a fragile, human body. Godspeed, Steve. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/146962-steve-jobs-takes-health-hiatus/#findComment-1041636 Share on other sites

jglavin
Steve, you made Apple the company it was from nothing, went off and did your thing, came back and basically resurrected it again. Take a break, enjoy your life. Let's see what the young'ns can do. That's what I think. On the other hand, what will the PC world be like without Steve? Suzie's Soliloquy
Scottishduck? We may be more inclined to believe you if you could spell or use grammar. Steve Jobs truly revolutionised the whole PC market; no computer on the market would be anywhere near as versatile if it wasn't for him and his revolution(s) on Apple. I wish him a complete recovery and the all the time in the world he can take to spend with his family and other relatives. apester
I only have 2 questions, why would Steve use a company that is known for providing tests for those who cant afford afford or cant get insurance? Also how did they do this test two years before the company was founded? (SXCheck was founded in 2006). AndrewNZ
UPDATE Speculation is rife that SJ is considering a liver transplant. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=206...&refer=home Doesn't sound good, but such a treatment, if successful, might well add a number of years to his life. But you'd have to be a very optimistic character type to believe that in those circumstances, he'd ever go back to being CEO of anywhere. Best wishes to Steve Jobs and his loved ones. scottishduck
Woah {censored}. Don't know who posted that {censored} on my account but it wasn't me Will delete the posts and change my pass. The main speculation points to the effects of his Pancreatic cancer, which would be highly probable given his symptoms. People who survive the cancer almost certainly die a few years later, very sad Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/146962-steve-jobs-takes-health-hiatus/#findComment-1044429 Share on other sites
