errandwolfe
If your old version is working DO NOT DOWNLOAD the new version. Many many follks (including me) downloaded this, worked for a while, then stopped. Even if you manually force a check and have a few hundred items in your Inbox, this prog still says you have 0 e-mail. Many complaints have been made in the gmail support forums on Google, no response has been heard yet. TokinDerrick
the other thread said that this is not a problem with the newest one, its something wrong with google. both the new and the old notifiers are having the same problem, along with 3rd party software. so, download the newest one anywayz, they'll be fixing it soon.... Chrysaor
Yea it didn't reported new mail for me too. Just started using it yesterday, and uninstalled gmail notifier extension in firefox. Kinda got screwed today by this, missed an urgent mail. Eskurza
Guys, it is nothing to do with the software. Its the gmail service that is inconsistent nowadays.. It is back up and running Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13314-do-not-download-new-gmail-notifier/#findComment-85024 Share on other sites
errandwolfe
Guys, it is nothing to do with the software. Its the gmail service that is inconsistent nowadays.. It is back up and running This does seem to be the case although I don't know why the Windows version wasn't having the same problem. Tak
This just highlights the fact that it is still on beta (and is free), with no service guarantees, so you shouldn't rely on it for urgent correspondence. errandwolfe
Well I hate to nit-pick, but I think the gMail service itself if fantastic. I can think of only a few times since I have been using it (at least getting close to a year now I think) that the entire service was offline. If you are expecting something urgent, then for god's sake, just go and manually check on the web. domino
I think some people seam to forget that Gmail is still in beta . Like Eskurza already mentioned, it's not the app, it's the server. I have gotten "can not connect" from both smtp and pop3 services at least 3x a month. I don't expect it to be working properly until it comes out of beta. cheers Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13314-do-not-download-new-gmail-notifier/#findComment-85211 Share on other sites

wesley
Back on track again, confirmed. I think they're poking around a lot with the service and sometimes it gets broken. Hopefully, with lessons learned the 'out-of-beta' service would be even more fantastic.
