I've installed RC1 on my MacBook Pro (2GB, 2GHZ) and it runs GREAT. I am only missing iSight-support right now.

I've got one big problem, though. Maybe you can help me:

How can I add support for the "AT" sign? I've tried the aledged "Input Remapper" and it did fix quite some stuff but I am still not able to use AltGR+q for "AT". Any hints?

Thanks!

Here's the old post for anyone who needs it.

And so begins your new quest. Soon we will have a ton of users with XP on their machines so now the question is....how the hell do we USE them without drivers? Well....sofar this is what we have...

Updated 24 March at 12:36a EST (Added Mac Mini sound workaround link)

Wireless Card: iMac http://tinyurl.com/jxqsn MacBook Pro/Probable Mac Mini http://www-306.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss...xr-layout=print

Ethernet Controller: http://www.marvell.com/drivers/upload/Setu..._x32_v84923.zip

Chipset: http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df...mp;submit=Go%21

Sound: Sigmatel HD Audio from Intel (Drivers installed perfectly. Sound from Headphones but not speakers) http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df...amp;PrdMap=2065

Bluetooth Solution: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=12293

As a general rule these drivers may not auto install via the installer program they come with. You may have to pay attention to where they are extracted to and manually point the device at the directory the drivers are in. This is the case with the WiFi drivers on all systems, and I believe the Yukon Ethernet drivers (I can't recall right now).

Here's What we still need:

Video: iMac/MacbookPro use x1600 mobility, mini uses integrated 945 graphics

The following drivers for the x1600 have been tested and failed...

* Omega Drivers

* Drivers for Acer Travelmate 8200

* Drivers for Asus A6J

* DNA Drivers

* ATI Catalyst Mobility drivers v5.13b

Some drivers will install and show as no conflict but when you check video functions nothing shows up. This is effectively the same as a normal failure. Failure is probably related to the fact that the video card uses UGA and not VGA for firmware.

Wireless Card: Its been noted that the above iMac driver can be problematic with some access points. The Chipset is a Broadcom BCM4310 so if you can find drivers for hardware that uses that chipset you may be able to use them. A few have been posted around page 16-18 or so.

Mac Mini Analog Sound workaround: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=12853

Others: No word on the iSight, IR port, or some other misc unknown USB devices showing up in the Device Manager.

So Vista + Boot Camp = Successful or not? I really would like to run Vista on my 20-inch C2D iMac, but I can't tell from all these threads if I can go out and buy Vista without any install problems.

I installed Vista Home Premium on my Mac (iMac C2D 20-inch, 2.16GHz, etc.) and it works perfectly. The only bummers that I have with it is 1. I doesn't work with the Apple Remote, 2. The scroll on my Mighty Mouse Doesn't work, and 3. I can't figure out how to access "Num Lock" while using an Apple Keyboard. I'm currently looking up drivers for those certain features though.

Summary: If you want Vista on your Mac using Boot Camp, it is possible and works just fine. :thumbsup_anim:

I need some help, actually. Im new (obviously) and looked through most of the topic. Good stuff. I downloaded the Sigmatel Driver from Intel on my 17" MBP (bootcamped XP Pro). I've got very low sound coming through the headphones and when I try to run the Intel Audio app that is downloaded, It won't open. Any ideas on how I can either return the sound to go through the speakers or make the headphone sound louder? I've gone through the audio options in the control panel already

Sorry to revive an old post, but I went through this problem a few days ago

Just from my own personal experience (your mileage may vary).  The Intel driver works, but it is fairly generic and requires a "definition" of how the audio device is setup on the Macbook/Pro.  If you want to use the Intel provide driver, there seems to be a fairly easy to implement fix that has the sound working properly (at least for me).  If you look at STHDA.INI, you will see device listings along with a INI that defines that particular device.  Now, if you look at the Bootcamp provided drivers, you will find a couple of files (BOARD1.INI, BOARD6.INI, etc), along with a STHDA.INI that has entries corresponding to these files.  Copy the entries out of the STHDA.INI (Bootcamp version), and paste them into the STHDA.INI (Intel Version), and copy the BOARDx.ini files (Bootcamp) to the Intel WDM directory. (Or you could just replace the STHDA.INI, and copy the BOARDx.ini files, your choice).

Also you want the Sigmatel Drivers + STACGUI (not the Intel Audio App)

See if that solves your problem

I have a New 2.6 Tower and can't even get Vista to install well enough to follow anyones advice on Driver changes.

The resolution is stuck in 4bit mode. I tried installing forceware that I transfered onto my desktop while in Vista and rebooted... No change. I am still in 4bit mode and cannot get out.

I wiped my partition and did the entire process again to the same conclusion.

Issues:

` While partitioning I am not given an option ... it just does it. (in Mac OSX Bootcamp)

` Had same issue with driver CD others had. Couldn't get "run Cmd" to extract my separated drivers cd either :) User error I bet

` I can't see anything to try and do a fix ... 4bit sux

I used 32Gig Partition and am now wondering why I bought Vista (POS)

That's why Apple provided you with Boot Camp. Why did you choose to wing it on your own?

You can find it if you look around. Version 1.1.2. but it's a .dmg, not .iso.

Personally, I recommend you wipe the thing and restore from Apple's discs, then run Boot Camp and follow the directions this time.

Disc 1 of those two should boot your Mac. You need to hold down the C key immediately after pressing the power button. Delaying may cause it to boot from the HD.

You can flush the PRAM to see if that helps reset the boot sequence. Press and hold Apple Option P and R keys as soon as you power up and continue to hold them until the machine chimes 3 times, then hold the C key down to boot from disc. You'll need the first OS DVD in your drive when you do this, of course.

If that doesn't work, call Apple. You need another set of discs.

I went to www.apple.com and download bootcamp but it was in .dmg format which xp won't read. I went to my school to use the mac there but the security setting on the mac won't let me install the .mpkg file. Is there anyway i can just download the Macintosh Drivers for Windows XP.exe?
