gotti32123
Can someone please help me out, I have spend multiple hours on this forum looking for the solution. I just build my osx86 project. I am using 10.5.3 Gigabyte Ga-EP43-ds3l motherboard and I am having problems getting the audio to work. I have tried about 5 different drivers and none seem to work with the EP43 chipset. Does anyone know a way to fix this?

gotti32123
I spent many hours trying to figure this out. Can someone give me detailed instructions on how to create a Linux dump of my audio card
msl777
I also spent many hours trying to get my ALC888 to work and I managed to get it working (using 10.5.2). In Taruga's site, I downloaded the ALC888 kext file under the "testing kexts" section of List galleries (the file id is 62). And then I also downloaded the ALCInject kext file. I then used the kext patcher and when I rebooted it worked for me. I'm using an MSI P43/ICH10R chipset, so it may work for yours. If ALCInject doesn't work, then try the HDAenabler kext on Taruga's website.

msl777
Can you post a screen shot of the Audio section from System Profiler? Unfortunately I can't, seeing how I tried to fix the ACPI/APIC drivers on my hackintosh and had to end up reinstalling it. I went back to Taruga's site to download that specific driver and his site is down. Unless someone can give me that exact driver, then I can't show you. Sorry, but now I'm soundless again as well...ugh.
dmanrevived
msl777, are you looking for enabler kexts or patcher kexts? They're certainly not all of them, but that's all I found with the site down.
msl777
msl777, are you looking for enabler kexts or patcher kexts? They're certainly not all of them, but that's all I found with the site down. They were enabler kexts. I downloaded the ALC888 testing kext (file id was 62 on the site). Then after I installed that, I installed the HDAenabler kext which I have. So if that's the kext on your post, then I'm good. I won't be able to test it until I'm up to FSU since I've already packed my new computer (Using my old one right now). Hopefully yours works, but yeah.
msl777
Yeah, none of those enabler kexts or patches worked... and I've tried almost everything I could find on this entire website... Taruga's site needs to get up soon lol.
claque2000
Yeah, none of those enabler kexts or patches worked... and I've tried almost everything I could find on this entire website... Taruga's site needs to get up soon lol. I have the same problem and same chipset(ich10r/alc888). Maybe someone has the files from taruga website and can post it here because taruga website is closed
msl777
Yeah I know dude. The only person on this site who used the same driver I'm talking about (which will work for you I guarantee), is Nyphew. I commented on his page, but nothing. I tried messaging him, but nothing comes up in my sent messages, which is wierd... Try sending him a message about it and see if yours goes through. I found out on this page. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry805372

claque2000
I found a post on this forum with a file attached, providing taruga kexts and it's working fine for me (stereo I don't need more atm). The file is this one I used the following kext : alc888_add0_AppleHDA.kext

dmanrevived
Why don't you just do a linux codec dump? I've tried most of the alc888 kexts/drivers on this site, and I still end up going back to my own codec dump.
msl777
Why don't you just do a linux codec dump? I've tried most of the alc888 kexts/drivers on this site, and I still end up going back to my own codec dump. I've tried everyone's codec dumps as well. I spent a good time on this site, finding codec dumps, and kext files and none of them work except this one specific kext lol. I don't know how to make linux code dump that would work for me anyways. :\ I've got in contact with the user who's giving me the kext, but the file when I click just goes straight into the kext's contents and and when I do save as, I end up getting an html file. If you actually get the kext, please share it to me. Here's the link: http://nyphew.free.fr/OSX86/KEXT/. It's the AppleHDA and ALCinject kext there. gotti32123
Ok just to let you guys know i figured out how to do this.. I didnt use tarugas patch... infact if your installed it uninstall it... delete the kexts..(i think applehdapatcher, & alcinject) either way find a way to unistall it and you need to edit appleazaliaudio.kext go into the extensions folder find appleazaliaaudio.kext right click and click show contents open info.plist w/ text editor...(make sure you are using txt format) change IOHDAudioCodecVendorID to value ox(vendorid)(deviceid) for example mine is 0x80863A3E you can find this info when you boot up the computer... in mine it shows kinda a table 8086 3a3e 1232 xxxx audio device 3242 4324 5234 5345 video device ....... you should be able to figure it out.. if not google find vendor id of soundcard
kmikase
Hi, My laptop is an Asus M50SV and i have an ALC888 working (almost) perfectly. I don't know if it's because of the specificity of my laptop but may be you can have a look there : http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=118625 I say almost perfectly because internal speakers work, headphones output, microphone. But for example when i start a to listen a music, it makes noise like if my audio cable wasn't well plugged (during 1 sec may be) So let me know if this works for you
-pacific-aya
I have GB EP45-DS3L motherboard (ALC888 ICH10) and sound is working almost fine, with the same restriction wich was mentioned by kmikase (choppy sound playback for 1 sec at begining... I think it's a rendering of application's sound initialisation routine. But it's a bit annoying... ). If you are interested in working kexts I can upload them somewhere... P.S. And if somebody knows how to get rid of this defect (or if somebody has working sound with such configuration without this defect) can you share information how you did it? Thank you

rexexdesign
Hi All, I followed gotti's approach and had no luck with that. I have the ALC888 as well and had it working at one point I think with 10.5.4, but my graphics were acting up and timemachine wasn't working anymore. So I reinstalled everything and I have not yet been able to get the sound to work. Anybody else found a solution?? Thanks already, rexexdesign
OriginalMACNUT
Thank you very much, I just got this P43Twins1600 and I've tried manything to get the sound working. To many Codec dumbs to count, and this worked for me as well. Thanks everyone that has posted here. My specs. ASRock P43Twins1600 P43 MB ICH10 Realtek 888 What's working: I get main speaker output along with 2 more, Mic and Line-in Not working: everything else I'm happy at this point to have anything, but mic was a bonus w/ line-in I also spent many hours trying to get my ALC888 to work and I managed to get it working (using 10.5.2). undo_undo
It WORKS!!! It seems to work great. I don't hear noise when I start to listen to music, it works great. THANK you so much!! WOOT!! msl777, I have been spending considerable amount of time to get sound to work on GA-EP45-DS3LR, it has ALC888 – ICHR10. I have looked at King’s thread that you’re referring to, but he mentioned lot of different things that I do not need as my system is desktop. 1) What file did you download? 2) What are the contained .kexts and where did you install each kext to? 3) how did you build .mkext? Thank you so much.
