So I just got into multi-booting after using windows since I could type...and have sucessfully created my "hackintosh"

Looking into this linux thing next, hopefully I will be able to triple-boot it

What version should I download...and...what should I do with it? (I really know nothing about it.)

Welcome to the confusion that is Linux :)

Unlike OSX or Windows Linux comes in many distributions from many different companies/foundations.

To list just a few

OpenSuse - my personal fav

Fedora

Ubuntu

Debian

Slackware

...

You will hear people advocating their favorite flavor ... choose the one you think looks cutest ;)

You can do with it pretty much what you can with the other OSes.

If you want to get an idea what linux is prior to triple booting your comp take a look at running at as a VM. See http://www.lifehack.org/articles/technolog...in-windows.html

...and after you grow bored of the point and shoot linux distros that perform like sh*t and do everything good but nothing well... try Arch. You will have to learn something about your OS, but it's really no more difficult than whipping an XP or Vista install into shape. Not easy like Suse, Ubuntu, etc, but not all that hard... and the performance difference is shocking.
