I can't believe Rogers and Fido. I guess they want as little people to get an iPhone as possible. Reasons why it's a failure and why I won't be getting one:

1. New customer only, if you have an existing contract, you gotta pay to get out of it first before you can get the iPhone. They won't let you purchase it if you don't do that.

2. Network crash, no activation's possible. It wasn't just Apple's servers that crashed here, but Rogers servers too.

3. The so called free breakfast that was promised? Just a granola bar.

4. The $30 6 GB a month plan that came about because of pressure from ruinediphone.com that you needed to sign up before August 31 with a 3 year contract is only a promotion. It lasts for 3 months and then you're back to the minimum $60 a month plan with only 400 MB of data. Lovely isn't it?

Haha, dude, I know this is unrelated, but there's a post in your blog ranting about how Blu-Ray is stupid and will never make it in the market xD

But on a related note, yeah, fuck this shit, seriously. I'm ordering mine online. It'd better be activated and shipped within 3 or 4 days.

WRONG. There are different tiers which current clients fall in which determine how much you pay. Just like any other phone. Generally, you only need to be HUP eligible to qualify for the 199/299 pricing.

Rogers/fido's servers were down until 1:30, and Apple's 3ish (EST). I thought it added to the excitement. After running all around the city of Montreal, I got my hands on a 16GB and look at it fondly because of it's story lol...

OMG WUT AH BEG DIZAZTREE!!

Wrong. It is for the full three years. The promotion is that you must get it before August 31st. *sigh*

I'm figured out to cancel my third years contract with my marvelous LG Shine 8700... You know why? Cause' Bell and Telus make their leaders industry and making reception of text message 15 cents each times. Ok fine, I hate those {censored} of CDMA they are out of the bue compared of GSM extend in Europe. I work for a while also for Bell another fact why.

Believe me, I'm very stupid because I think to had an iPhone since winter 08. And when I saw Rogers coming out on market iPhone, I was very happy. But the only thing, nevermore a contract. So if I got an iPhone, first unlock for Fido's and Roger's. Second, I don't bother about data and email, I love SMS. And third, you use what you need. One card of 15$ and that's it. No more SAF (Network Access Fee and 911), no more 15 cents each txt msg incoming. Yehhhhhh :):D

Anyone get an iPhone in Quebec actually?

yeah I'm in Montreal and I'm very happy with my plan. I signed a three year with fido... Knowing that when the next iPhone comes out I can probably qualify for HUP, it doesn't bother me all that much.

So anyways, I have $30 data at 6gigs, $20 'regional' plan (although I think it's supposed to be Ontario only...) for 150 minutes and unlimited e/w, and the $11 value pack for 125 SMS, CID, VM, and whocalled. So I beat the $60 value plan almost everywhere except I don't have VVM... Which really doesn't bother me since I'm getting so much more!

Ok first question I have is whats a HUP?

As for your plans, honestly? Thats totally screwed - a 3 year plan??? I work in the telco industry in Oz, and I'll tell you, if we had 3 year contracts - no one would join us....I mean total ewwness.

The iPhones good, but its not like its the lords second comming or anything like that!!

Im just gonna wait till the whole fad is passed everyone and there are plenty of stocks - or stocks they'll find hard to move and the prices should go down. I honestly dont think it will be too long before a price drop - wont be huge - but it will be enough to push the iPhone down to a slightly more reasonable amount for prepaid

HUP= credit you got for fidelity when you are suscriber and you signed a long-term contract. HUP mean otherwise your company give you x amount of dollars for renewing your cellphone. Ex: I'm stuck with the same compagny for the last 5 years, they gave you e.g. 250$ for a new phone. If it's cost 400$, put out your paper and pen and make 400$-250$=150$ come from your wallet.

And for the contracts, it seems in Canada we are idiots and some companies had the monopole of the wireless telecommnunication. Also, the gouverment put a regulation organism for making equal (and propably) left them "leaders" on the straight way. But this org left customers in hand of monsters who tell you {censored} for getting more money in their pockets.

Not simple, I know but it's make sick to be in that position.

Somebody says one day: "Canada, such a great country."

Yeahh... :(

I won't be buying an iPhone from Rogers, I will wait a year and see what comes out of the spectrum auctions. I have such hatred for Rogers I managed to get 16 people to cancel their Rogers services and I will carry on trying to get people to switch. I may end up buying an iPhone outright and use pay as you go until a new GSM carrier is up and running. But it will not come from Rogers because they want to charge $780 for an 8Gb model and it was something like $950 for the 16GB nothing like price gouging Rogers  at least AT&T is a little more reasonable at $599 & $699.

all the big canadian telcos are bad

sales rep: "I"m not calling you a liar -"

me:" so, what are you calling me then?"

It's not just about the price I'm frustrated, it's also the fact nobody move and continue to buy from her even they said they hate them bla bla bla. My wish is to the CRTC shout his mouth and open the door for new "TRUE" competition in wireless telco. When they got here, others like Telus, Bell (CDMA) and Rogers (GSM) will take a drop and become second players.

I found that in Wiki.. Yeah :)

In 2008, Shaw entered the Advanced Wireless Spectrum auction with the intention of possibly becoming a cellphone provider. The auction is expected to wrap up in July 2008, and the results will be fully known by the end of the summer.
