I downloaded the current cvs of rdesktop and compiled it on my iMac Intel core duo and copied it to my 10.4.4 hackintosh and it seems to work fine. Dont know if this is old news, but I wanted to use it instead of M$ RDP (ppc).

I have attached the binary. Not sure of the rules since they changed. So it might not be here long.

On my systems, including my iMac Intel Core Duo the Microsoft RDP client takes forever to startup using rosetta. It also seems to start only when it feels like it. I wasnt having any luck with the Darwinports, so that is why I decided to compile it myself. I will take a look at the darwinports again.

Installed great within DarwinPorts: sudo port install rdesktop

Did you compile darwinports 1.2. Or is there a precompiled binary that I can install? I downloaded the 1.2 and it was for ppc. So when I do the sudo port install rdesktop I get the wrong architecture error.

iMac-Intel:~ $ sudo port install rdesktop

I am using Remote-Desktop-Connection directly from Microsoft. Runs very well in Rosetta!!!

What sort of system are you running, i'm remoting into some machines of mine and the lag unbearable. i can screen redraws at 1024x768x16bit (fullscreen) using Rosetta rdp client. Im gonna try rdesktop, I always had no problems with that on Ubuntu. I just have to figure out how to install X11 and get that going.

My System

Dell 2400

P4 2.4ghz

256m ram

Intel 845G graphics
