legendariske_harehjort
Hi, Just searched the forum thinking I was not the only one who always Just Says Yes to updates,.... looks like I am. Anyway, is there a fix if you used Software Update with 10.5.3 ? Tim Smart
Insulation tape? You will have to restore all the extensions etc. Otherwise boot windows, install macdrive, grab important data and reinstall OS X. legendariske_harehjort
Thank you for the quick reply,... It is not a dual boot installation. (Kalyway) Is there no roll-back or something as part of Software Update? vaporATX
Insulation tape? I was going to suggest sterilization. It's not a quick fix, but in one generation things will be much better. legendariske_harehjort
ok, I guess I can not recover. Is there a way to boot it so that I can transfer the files to another mac? (its a SATA disk, and I do not have any external cases for it) Thank you, Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/111991-quickfix-for-stupidity/#findComment-793018 Share on other sites
starobrno1
Can´t you go the other way around access it from antother computer/mac and save the data you want to keep. When upgrading you have to do it from terminal, a couple of good guides posted up in the stickys. legendariske_harehjort
do you have a INTEL or AMD machine? GUID or MBR Partition Table? It's an Intel, Q6600. I used Kalyway, and I think it is GUID. (used mtotho's guide) Thank you, Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/111991-quickfix-for-stupidity/#findComment-793057 Share on other sites
Hagar
Insulation tape? You will have to restore all the extensions etc. Otherwise boot windows, install macdrive, grab important data and reinstall OS X. Why do people propagate this kind of disinformation.. a quick boot from a DVD or usb stick, move a couple of files & you're all back up & running.. (start with getting rid of appleintelcpupowermanagement etc) The break-fix cycle of updating is a well-established procedure, and vastly preferable to risking filesystem corruption using macdrive. DoiX
if it's GUID you can make a new partition(without losing data) and install leo there, then you can copy the important data (if you have) from the broken leo install on this partition < lazy man's way Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/111991-quickfix-for-stupidity/#findComment-793065 Share on other sites
DavidinCT
Wonder if someone could create a image with BartPE...It runs a small version of Windows XP off a CD, maybe configure MACdrive to run on this, it would save a ton of people problems in this case....because you could just drag and drop to a flash drive or something......just a thought...
