I didn't panic - Limewire is a little buggy here and there - i just reinstalled it as for the spiel in the answer - rubbish - Aquisition is a bad App! Then he goes on to attack an application that he himself states he has never used - if he has never put it on his machine how does he know it's bad? Next he recommends another program that he again has no personal experience of on the basis on hearsay! I myself use xfactor. $4.95 for a license is a way better deal than what you pay for limewire. Also, they become clearinghouses for viruses because stupid users think they can get a free copy of Microsoft office in a 112 KB file. In the PC world is leaves its users open to TONS of java viruses which in tern, pull in other win32 viruses. I'm sure most of you mac limewre people would find windows viruses embedded around your OS if you were to run a local virus scanner. Obviously they probably won't be doing much as they would be Win32 applications, not darwin/OSX binaries, but that won't stop those pesky java viruses. I know cause I have worked for years doing PC repair and most circumstances I run into limewire, the OS is usually trashed from java/win32 viruses and spyware/malware. Hmm, let's say, it is not Limewire what is dangerous. It's simply the whole gnutella network. But on the other side, if you use Brain 1.0. Antivir, it's fine. I don't know the address, but you can google for it. Is easy to use and verry fast. I really love it. Ouch Posted March 8, 2006 Share Posted March 8, 2006 I've used limewire for some time and have never had a problem with spyware or viruses as a result of using it - using mcafee virusscan enterprise and brain 1.0 as xtraa suggests My main gripe with it was speed - it was just very laggy. I hadn't come accross poisoned before but it is a very nice app, no fuss no frills file sharing. So i second moose's recommendation.
