Maxintosh
I was going to buy a BB 9000, but the iPhone is much more appealing. I'll just sell my 8800 and my iPod Nano, and it'll cover the cost right there! Don't 'cha just love it when you can sell the old stuff, and buy the new toys, and it doesn't cost you any more
GERGÖ
I'm curious about this $199 around the world. I hope it's not about 2year contract etc.

WinLinMac01
Now we're talking!!! Dam cheap. Now that's the way it should be. But what about all of those customers that paid an astounding 500 dollars when it first came out. too bad.
cain.
You gotta be kidding. Up 2 now, Apple used a very simple formula to calculate prices in Germany: Price in US$ = German price in €. Is there a way to sneak out of mobile phone contracts if you leave the country in the US just like it's common in Europe? I'm gonna be in the US for the next semester and if there is, I'll sure as hell get an iPhone...
Harloe
So.. is that it? No other new products except the iPhone? Wow this is one HUGE disappointment. This years WWDC has gone down the pan for me if that's all they have to offer =[ If there is a second half, I hope MacRumors cover it.

Paranoid Marvin
Haha, Apple wiped Greenland, Iceland, Svalbard and the Faroe Islands off the map Ok, but seriously, why no iPhone in Iceland? Iceland has the second highest mobile phone penetration in the world, just behind Finland. It's stupid.

Simba909
I've heard that you can't go to the US on vacation, get an Iphone, and then go back home to sweden with it.. Is that really true? My friend told me that Iphones and such will be confiscated in the customs!! And besides, is it even possible to get a friggin' Iphone without that god forbidden AT&T contract, which slowly will drain all of my savings?! Because otherwise I'll send my friend to get one of those for me ^^

Anyway, that won't be necessary now, it's gonna come to Sweden, legally, and cheaper, with many awesome new features!
kinkster
Yeah, Snow Leopard will be after lunch. By the way , in my opinion it is madness to sell the 8 gig iphone for only 199$ and the 8 gig touch for 299$. So prepeare for price drop... maybe ?The iPhone is only that cheap with a 2 year contract. I expect they have the new free ipod touches for college students with the cheap iPhone in mind. Synaesthesia
Some info on Snow Leopard that has since been taken down : Cool stuff, Quicktime X, Multi-core enhancement, and GPU acceleration. I thought the Safari speed enhancement would come sooner though. It's already in the Webkit nightly build... SAN FRANCISCO—June 9, 2008—Apple® today previewed Mac OS® X Snow Leopard, which builds on the incredible success of OS X Leopard and is the next major version of the world’s most advanced operating system. Rather than focusing primarily on new features, Snow Leopard will enhance the performance of OS X, set a new standard for quality and lay the foundation for future OS X innovation. Snow Leopard is optimized for multi-core processors, taps into the vast computing power of graphic processing units (GPUs), enables breakthrough amounts of RAM and features a new, modern media platform with QuickTime® X. Snow Leopard includes out-of-the-box support for Microsoft Exchange 2007 and is scheduled to ship in about a year. “We have delivered more than a thousand new features to OS X in just seven years and Snow Leopard lays the foundation for thousands more,” said Bertrand Serlet, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering. “In our continued effort to deliver the best user experience, we hit the pause button on new features to focus on perfecting the world’s most advanced operating system.” Snow Leopard delivers unrivaled support for multi-core processors with a new technology code-named “Grand Central,” making it easy for developers to create programs that take full advantage of the power of multi-core Macs. Snow Leopard further extends support for modern hardware with Open Computing Language (OpenCL), which lets any application tap into the vast gigaflops of GPU computing power previously available only to graphics applications. OpenCL is based on the C programming language and has been proposed as an open standard. Furthering OS X’s lead in 64-bit technology, Snow Leopard raises the software limit on system memory up to a theoretical 16TB of RAM. Using media technology pioneered in OS X iPhone™, Snow Leopard introduces QuickTime X, which optimizes support for modern audio and video formats resulting in extremely efficient media playback. Snow Leopard also includes Safari® with the fastest implementation of JavaScript ever, increasing performance by 53 percent, making Web 2.0 applications feel more responsive.* For the first time, OS X includes native support for Microsoft Exchange 2007 in OS X applications Mail, iCal® and Address Book, making it even easier to integrate Macs into organizations of any size.
