Evad
I'm sure many of you here already read this article or have seen it posted on some tech site. Nevertheless, it was a very interesting article. A lot of the stuff mentioned here I never knew about. http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,1931946,00.asp Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/10534-why-windows-vista-wont-suck/ Share on other sites
Altimit
Interesting article. I kind of question the guys credibility at some parts though. This, for example: Then there's power management. System power management queries between system drivers and the OS have gotten a major overhaul, so it should be easier for hardware vendors to make their devices work in low-power environments and seamlessly work with power-saving features like Hibernation and Sleep Mode. "What is Sleep Mode?" you ask? On desktop systems, turning off the power will, by default, put your computer in Sleep Mode, where all the data currently in use is saved to both RAM and the hard drive, and then turns everything off except for a few key components (CPU, RAM, a few chipset features). I have NEVER seen a desktop PC that does this by default in my life. Every laptop I've ever seen goes into full hibernation (it doesn't do a savestate like the article suggests) as well. philter
Perhaps he's saying Vista will have this behavior by default. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/10534-why-windows-vista-wont-suck/#findComment-66203 Share on other sites
VaiOSX
Is it the Microsoft's "one more thing" ? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/10534-why-windows-vista-wont-suck/#findComment-66208 Share on other sites
ozzie123
I especially like the new Vista look and feel (although I think it does get my 1024x768 a little bit crowded). EtherealRemnant
I highly doubt I'll be using that bloatware on my system... It murders my system and my system really isn't that bad (A64 3500+ @ 2.75GHz) other than the video. -.-
Will it have the word "My" on all the directories? I haven't seen Vista yet, but IMHO it will suck! slipstream
I have a mate that uses his pc an average amount and i showed him some of the new stuff for vista and IE7 beta that i installed and he hated it. whats the idea MS has of shifting stuff about on the screen so users have to re learn where the heck things are, He hated it and I think if MS follows this sort of idea alot of average users wont wont it. Maybe people will rebell and stick with XP. Alot of the reason that people dont move to mac is they are really use to xp and cant be bothered learning anything new. It took me a month to feel comfrotable. So I am thinking therea re a few reasons why Vista maybe a bit of a lead ballow. And quite frankly if people want to play games there is all the consoles and xbox360 should be the ticket really over a PC as a glorified game console. no drivers to change or update and the like just throw the dvd in and go.. I personally am waiting for the PS3 to see what it is like.
