mattswell
This is more of an OSX question than an OSX86 question, but I've searched google and I can't find any information on compatibility aside from Creative's website, which never lists any OSX information. Does this product work? I have a set of 5.1 speakers that I would like to hook up. My only alternative at the moment is to use my optical output and rig the speakers to my receiver. It works, but it's kind of messy. Here's a link to the product. tlevis
Hi, I would like to know the answer to this also. I'm currently searching for a working sound card for 10.5 with s/pdif output capability with pass through of ac3. Did you get this working? Oxtie
OSX86 HCL doesn't show this as "working". Also, kX dude won't support this one as it's not supported on Win32 either. But you never know kX in future. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/102500-sound-blaster-x-fi-surround-51-usb/#findComment-776793 Share on other sites

saudor
It works ok in Mac os X 10.6.5+ for sure. However, the volume control doesnt work so i have to control it via the speakers. In bootcamp (windows 7 64bit, it has full support... of course) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/102500-sound-blaster-x-fi-surround-51-usb/#findComment-1671086 Share on other sites

asstastic
Does line in and mic work with this card? Both work, as well as 5.1 output. Use Audio MIDI Setup to configure. As stated many times earlier, volume control does not work, use the controls per application or on your speakers instead. keptile
I got stutters, clicks and pops with this device in my Leopard 10.5.7 installation on Acer Aspire 5672. I tried using AppleUSDBAudio.kext from 10.5.6 and 10.5.8, neither worked. It stutters even worse when I use optical output. I tried every setting in Audio MIDI Setup. I works fine with my 2011 Macbook Pro. Anybody has an idea? blppt
I, too, have this sound card, and it does work, but I only use 2 channel output and 16bit/48000hz output in Audio Midi---going into 24bit mode seems to choke the USB 1.1 connection....to the best of my knowledge this card will NOT use 2.0 like it does in Windows, as System Profiler lists it as connected to the regular, not the "High Speed" USB bus. So, bear this in mind. This was using 10.7.2 lion with a P55 mobo---the GB P55-UD3L 1.0 with F7 BIOS. The onboard sound analog out is {censored}, which is why I use the X-FI USB. vilczech18
For me works only Front and center. Rear and subwoofer won't work. I didn't try mic and inputs. Don't need them.
