Hello all,

I'm curious what people are using for USB midi controllers. I did a little bit of searching through the forum, but haven't seen much. I was thinking of getting a m-audio oxygen 49 as it has good reviews (as far as I can tell) and it is very cheap. Can anyone confirm a working oxygen 49 or similar on a osx86 machine? Also, this is a long shot, but does anyone have a Presonus faderport working?

Thanks!

I bought a Axiom 25 which is similar to the oxygen 49. The Axioms have the eight drum pads, and semi-weighted keys. Someone had returned the one I bought, so I got a deal at $100. It does have a nice feel to the keys and looks well built, but this is my first midi controller that I've bought. It plugs into the laptop by usb and works fine with GB on my Gateway. I haven't tried the midi connections on the keyboard, but the m-audio usb interface Fast Track Pro I also have works works fine with this laptop, using the latest Leo drivers from m-audio.

Thank you to those who replied - I ended up getting an Oxygen 49 and I can say for sure that it does work well with gb and logic.

I'm also extra happy that my Presonus Firebox works!

It seems to be more of a challenge to get the Oxygen/Firebox working in windows, or perhaps the programs are less intuitive as to how to set them up. I'd prefer to just use os x anyways, so I'm happy.

  • 2 weeks later...

My Oxygen8 v2 works like a charm  Pretty basic controller, few rotary knobs, transport buttons (can be set to any CC value), pitch bend, mod.

Didnt have to install any drivers on my Kalyway 10.5.2 hackintosh.

I'll try my m-audio uno interface in a sec...as soon as i can remember where i've put it... :s
