EnCoDeD
skingfreak here are the files I used the first time I installed.... vikingboy was happy to post on this topic before and I found his post (#1) perfect for the stuff I needed to get my mobo working. the updated drivers at the bottom of the post are the ones I used, give them a shot after you read his post. hXXp://rapidshare.com/files/67089602/p5ke_leopard.zip <---- Drivers Section 8, 9, 10 are the only things you need to really worry about. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=69132# Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/101322-asus-p5k-e-wifi-ap-cannot-for-the-life-of-me-get-osx-installed/page/2/#findComment-724619 Share on other sites
starkruzr
Hi guys, I am about to install tomorrow Kalyway 10.5.2 using this hardware build: P5K-Deluxe WiFi-AP E6750 GF7950 graphics card Two questions: Is there anything I should watch out for when installing? Should I use the "vanilla kernel," or the vanilla+sleep? Is there any reason that burning the ISO to a DVD-RW disc and installing that should not work? TIA. vaporATX
vaporATX I use 1002 and it works fine for me with a Apple USB Keyboard and a USB Logitech mouse. will have to try the 1012 update see if they fixed it yet.. I can't get it to boot with any USB keyboard with a bios any higher than 0906. Have to pull the keyboard and plug it back in after the bus probe. Too much hassle so I just went back too 0906. If you check the Asus forums they still haven't fixed it. I will give all this a shot after my SATA DVD drive in next week. Can someone link me to a site where i can buy one THAT FOR SURE works with this board and isn't terribly expensive. Thanks! So i just found this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16827248011Free shipping and the price is right for what it comes with. EnCoDeD
I can't say for sure on that one but I know this one will as I have it and tested it. " LG GH20NS10 " but I don't think it is on the newegg site but I can't see why that one would not work, most (NOT ALL) will work right out of the box.... EnCoDeD
when you boot up, you get the menu type rd=disk0s1 -v -x see if you can get into "Safe mode"(if you want to call it that) it might be a kernel issue in loading Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/101322-asus-p5k-e-wifi-ap-cannot-for-the-life-of-me-get-osx-installed/page/2/#findComment-732315 Share on other sites
Acidic
btw sking. im not sure if this helps but it might. I have a P5w deluxe mobo, I had the same error " comp.plist etc etc" I had to alter my bios settings to get lepoard cd to boot and to install. I installed kalyway 10.5.1 and everything ran perfectly after that. here are the settings I used: POWER Suspend mode: (S3 Only) ACPI 2.0 Support: (Yes) ADVANCED JMMicron Controller Mode: (AHC1) JMicron SATA/Raid Boot Rom: (disabled) Enhanced C1 Control: (Auto) ADVANCED CPU SETTINGS Max CPUID Value Limit: (enabled) Execute Disable Function: (enabled) Enhanced C1 Control: (Auto) this should get it to boot up. not sure though. one problem i have with this is i am unable to boot on xp. i have to change all these settings back to default to boot on xp. then to boot on mac i have to change them back .. anyway good luck Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/101322-asus-p5k-e-wifi-ap-cannot-for-the-life-of-me-get-osx-installed/page/2/#findComment-732364 Share on other sites
skingfreak
Wow i appreciate the fast replys. I reformated the drive using an XP disc (because i couldn't get the damn thing to show up in disk management. So that is what im doing right now. I wil post back what i know after. (the disc had a previous version of lepord on it (that i couldn't get to run smooth)) So that is where i sit, if anyone has any other sugestions please feel free Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/101322-asus-p5k-e-wifi-ap-cannot-for-the-life-of-me-get-osx-installed/page/2/#findComment-732399 Share on other sites
newbmac
Did you try following the instructions in the first guide listed in my sig (for your motherboard)? If you bought a new SATA DVD you should have gotten the one the author used as it is known to work... skingfreak
The drive works, thats not the issue, lepord runs through the install, tells me that its installed completely has me restart, than i get to that grey window with the spinning wheel of death and than the box with the circle and the line come up. Update: So through the proccess of messing with this, i managed to erase my storage drive (kicks self in the ass) good thing the only real thing lost was my music, which i can back up from my ipod So i formated my IDE drive using the interesting version of lepord i have installed on the SATA hd to format it with GUID and now its installing. So we will see where i sit in a few minutes. I'm hoping to make my next post on my hackintosh instead of my mac UPDATE! OK so i got OSX to load, and im looking at the pure sex of it. BUT i still have no wireless. Any thoughts? i swear someone said this install was supposed to run smoothly with this board? EnCoDeD
It should have worked after install if you selected the rl8187L driver to be installed. Here is the driver for it, as long as you have it set in the Bios to be on. It does not show up in the airport section but as a USB device, and as an Ethernet in Network Prefs ftp://210.51.181.211/cn/wlan/87_Mac10.4_v1309.zip Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/101322-asus-p5k-e-wifi-ap-cannot-for-the-life-of-me-get-osx-installed/page/2/#findComment-732486 Share on other sites

It is not there. its set at 1024x769 and i think it needs to be 1200x1060 or something about there. Its a 22" westinhouse display. (but the only option i have in the display section is 1024x768) First post running mac OSX yeah for internet! :DNow if we can get sound, and my display res working i will be amazed sooo happy ha Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/101322-asus-p5k-e-wifi-ap-cannot-for-the-life-of-me-get-osx-installed/page/2/#findComment-732496 Share on other sites

skingfreak
I appreciate it man. thanks for all the help. I have the kalaway 10.5.2 install on my IDE HD and a flat image install on my SATA HD. The internet works on the IDE, the video card works on the SATA, any way i can grab the video kexts or something from the SATA instal? I just don't know what to look for :s Because if i can grab files from that other install that would be amazing. It even recognizes the brand and size of my monitor. Also i notice in the terminal on either instal, i CANNOT type in my password for some odd reason. Any thought? EnCoDeD
for things that you do in the terminal windows type SUDO then the command it will ask you for the password when it tries to do the task. well it should. skingfreak
hey, did using that audio kext get your digital output to work?? And how did you boot using vannila? is that when you first do the instal? maybe that will fix a lot of my problems ha. Like i said in a previous post, i cannot type in my password in the terminal. or are you saying that by typing "sudo" it will ask for the pasword outside of the terminal? EnCoDeD
No optical doesnot work, yes when you type "SUDO" it will ask u to type in ur password. If u search for it there is a kernel installer some one made here.... With it u can install a vanilla kernel.... That will help with system updates not crashing the install. skingfreak
EVERYTHING WORKS!!! ;) :D Wow this is so amazing. I don't know what i did, i was getting pissed at the kalaway instal so decided to F*ck with the flat image instal i had on the SATA drive, tried installing the internet drivers (after filling out the correct info in the network settings) and BAM! it works!! Now in this whole procces i have managed to delete the flat image file i DL'ed...Is there any way i can create a flat image out of my instal?? EnCoDeD
Congrats on getting it working. The GREEN jack on the back is the audio out. I can't tell you how to make the flat image. Vertu
@EnCoDeD: I've got almost the identical set up to you (Asus P5k-E Wifi, E8400, Sapphire 2600XT 512MB), I just wanted to double check that you've had no problems with the Apple Aluminum Keyboard (wired). I was planning on picking one up, but after reading a few post where people could only get the machine to boot with it unplugged and/or plugged into the front USB ports (or set the USB ports to lower speeds), I'm a bit nervous. I'm still using the original BIOS that the board shipped with (806 or something like that). Right now I have everything working very nicely. Including a Dell USB keyboard plugged into a back port. Thanks. PS: I'm loving this set up right now. This machine flies.. I just think I'd love it more with a nice looking aluminum keyboard! Guess if it doesn't work I can always return it... Also, what does your Sig mean with the xbench score w/o drive? I can only get 190 in xbench, but that might be because I've only got 4GB of RAM.. EnCoDeD
it works just fine as long as your Bios is 1002 and under mine would not work with 1004 or 1006. Maybe the new one(1014??) is fixed but I have not tried it out. The 0806 works just fine as that is what my board was when I installed it. I have mine plugged into a USB KVM switch as I still have my windows server, and have the cable plugged into the back right where the KEYBOARD/PS2 mouse would be. For the xbench test just uncheck "disk test" and test again. Let me know if anyone has any issues....
