Okay first off, i have downloaded and tried i'm going to guess 6 different versions of kalaway, ikatos, and a few others. The only one i could get to install was a flat image..but than i couldnt get the network connections or sound to work :)

Here is my computer:

MOBO: Asus P5k-E WIFI-AP

CJIP: Intel core 2 duo 2.66ghz

grapichs card: Nvidia 8800GTS

RAM: Corsair 2gb 800mhz

HD: 250gb IDE and 250gb SATA (i can get the flat image to work on the sata...)

Every time load the discs and set the bios to boot them, i get the infamous "com apple plist"

I also tried booting them with VMware with again no luck.

According to the WIKI my board should work 100% out of the box with the kalaway release....I am lost. Is there something i am not doing?

Any help is greatly appreciated. I have been trying to get this to work for about a week now, and smoke is pouring out of my ears on this subject :D

I have the same MB, CPU, and 250 SATA drive with my OSX install. Grab the latest 10.5.2 Kalyway DVD and go into the BIOS and hit default values. There may be something out of whack in there. I've moved away from the IDE drives so I can't comment if they'd work or not but I've used the SATA without issue. When it boots up format it as MBR and you should be able to install without issue.

I will do that as soon as i get back from class. Did you update the bios at all? if so, what version bios are you running? And does everything work out of the box for you?JonDeleted, i just sent you a PM, please let me know :)But my main question is;How is everyone getting around the 'com. apple plist not found' error??? I have yet to try 10.5.2 like "deleted" stated, but what if i get the same error with that??

I have the same board as well and the 10.5.1 Kalyway disk works just fine

but I have the bios at 1002 as the aluminum apple USB keyboard will not work with 1004 or 1006 bios.

I had it first installed on an IDE HDD but I have since switched to SATA HDD

the 10.5.2 should work just fine for you when you get it. Like Deleted said clear the bios to defaults and try again.

If you need help just let me know

Thanks man i appreciate it! So i should be able to DL it, burn it to a (DVD+r 16x media) and than put the disc in, boot from the disc and it should install?Another thing that might be relavent but im not sure;My DVD-rom drive is on an IDE cable, and im attempting to install on an SATA HD.

Wow am I behind with my BIOS... it's currently 1012 and I'm running 0806 lol!

Ya, burn it to a DVD and have the BIOS set to seek the DVD first then the SATA drive. I'm not sure if the IDE will have any effect as I have installed the DVD to a IDE drive from a IDE DVD drive. If the IDE DVD to SATA HD doesn't work try a straight IDE to IDE install. I don't think it'll make a difference but never know.

SOO.......

I got my flat image of 10.5.0 to update to 10.5.2 okay and it has working my info and everything!.....

But i still cant get my internet to work

UGHHHHH WTFFF....

oh well i guess ill continue the dl of kaylway 10.5.2

Thanks man! hopefully i can work on it tonight! I've been chugging along with an average dl rate of 200 kb/s but i havn't seen it dip below 300~ and go as high as 750 :(;):D Hopefully it will be done in like two hours :D For the record can someone make sure this file is the right size;Kalyway_10.5.2_DVD_Intel_Amd~3.65gb <----does that seem right???THanks!

NewBmac:i started looking through that first toutorial in your link, and i found a problem, it says to use 10.5.1 and i already have a release of that, and i get the stupid plist not found BS. Is this because im using an IDE DVD drive??????

If you look at the end of the thread, people report back on 10.5.2

You obviously didn't read the first post very carefully, as the thread author talks about in the very first post.

You need to take your time and read and learn to do this...it can take people a month to get things installed correctly. :(

-USB DVD drives work (Tested by Skippy911)

-P-Ata DVD Drives only sometimes work(depending on the drive) I myself could not get neither a Samsung nor Pioneer to work. Best to stick S-Ata.

-P-Ata (aka IDE) hard drives work, depending on the motherboard. I know they work on DS3L and P5W for sure, I am sure they work on many more.

-Not all (MOST DO) S-Ata DVD drives work. If someone is looking to buying a new one, I know first hand THIS ONE works fine.

I think the reason of why some S-Ata and probably most P-Ata's that non-working drives may have older firmware, so it could be a simple software update to fix, worth a try.

For reference, when I try using P-Ata DVD drives (and possibly non-working S-Ata drives), this is what happens when loading the disc. I could not find a solution to this either.

NewBmac:

I read all that, and i don't see anything directly realated to my situation call my dumb or blind :) but i still don't get what your attempting to point out.

I hope its not the DVD drive im running out of money! haha college is for another week, and i dont start working for two! :s but i'm hoping that i can get everything working fairly quickly :D

Also incase it matters, i am burning my discs in CloneDVD2 at either 4x or 1x

but after reviewing that link by NewBmaC im thinking im going to have to grab an SATA DVD drive :) or try to install this on my IDE drive, which i dont want to do right now cause it was hard enough getting windows on that SOB (im not that much of a noob, something was messed up...)

we will find out in about 10 minutes seeing as im at 96.7% and going string at 450kbs ;)

And to no suprise to me..... "/com.apple.Boot.Plist" UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHI guess i will try the sata dvd drive. Does anyone think that will help? at this point im tired of pissing in the wind. Is there anyway i can put it on an external HD and boot from that??unfortunatly i only have two IDE dvd drives and no usb drives or sata drives. my bios was at 0906 so im going to update that real quick and give it another whirl. So no way to mount the image on an external hd and go from there.and any idea why im still getting that plist error?well bios was not the answer :thumbsup_anim:

I am just being teased by the 10.5.2 i have installed right now, that i can't for the life of me figure out how to get the network connections to work.

When i update the IONetworkFamily.Kext and reboot, it says that it cannot use the one i had before and asks that i use the old one...Booh

Wow am I behind with my BIOS... it's currently 1012 and I'm running 0806 lol!

Don't go any higher than 906 if you want the damn thing to boot with USB perfs hooked up. Frickin' Asus can't seem to get their {censored} together and fix it. Can't fix the frickin' vDroop, either. Gonna dump this garbage soon and get an Abit or Gigabyte board. :)

Well im going to try and edit the kexts in my current instal for the time being.

Does anyone know if there is a program that will easily replace the kexts for you? i found it the other day, but i cant for the life of me find it again. I think it was like esaykext or something like that??

vaporATX

I use 1002 and it works fine for me with a Apple USB Keyboard and a USB Logitech mouse. will have to try the 1012 update see if they fixed it yet..

skingfreak

Did you ever get your network card to work yet? If not I can send you the kext file for it.

PS: the file you asked about is called Kext Helper

Same board, BIOS 1006.

I did not know what I was doing at all. Loaded Leo4allv3. Instructed BIOS to boot from DVD(SATA).

It did and I followed the instruction that I had previously printed. Installed it on the blank 2nd HD. I chose GUID partition method. It went OK till the end and asked to be rebooted autimatically. On treboot, mahine went to XP64 which is my default on the first drive. 1 day waisted.

The following day I figured to try something different with BIOS. I looked for Hard Drives option in Boot Priority, it showed only the 1st HD(XP64). I thought this would be interesting. I went back to the install all over again. I went into disk utiliy and selected start up disk. I cliked on the Mac HD that I designated on the earlier install. Rebooted machine and went into BIOS. This time it showed the option of 2 hard drives, one with XP the other with Mac. I chose the one with Mac OSX as the start up ans reboot.

I was ecstatic when the boot screen came up with the hard drive and seconds later the boot sequence. Mac OSX loaded! Sound came up with the welcoming screen. It prompted me for selection of keyboard, and after 2 keystrokes, it identified correctly my keyboard(all the while my wireless mouse had been operational). A few minutes later, set up was complete. I was able to get online using the Marvell ethernet. It also identified my NVidia 8600GT along with attached monitor. Just to check, I went into network setting. It showed 2 connections, ethernet and ethernet 2 both connected. Ethernet is the wired component and ethernet 2 is wireless I assumed.

But there's no airport icon on the top bar. System Preference indicates no device present although Network shows both being connected.

How do I make the built-in Realtek Wireless with the Atheros chipset work?

I have never been a Mac regular user, hence don't know how to look for device driver.

As far as I can tell, this machine now behaves 100% like a Mac. I don't have Airport yet. Can anyone help me get Airtport setup?

Oh, it even mounts all of my NTFS formatted drives on desktop. This is amazing considering I am a total idot when it comes to Mac. I have said all I can remember.

Hardware:

-Asus P5KE-Wifi MB

-Intel E2220

-NVidia 8600GT

-LG SATA DVD

UPDATE:

2 hours later. I was determined to investigate further because ethernet2 shows the connection established. The thing that made it more diffult for me was that I had never been a Mac user on a regular basis so finding where things are was a bit sluggish. Eventually I found the Utility folder. Lo and behold, there was a icon named Realtek USB WLAN Client. I don't know still how it got in there but it was there. This is exactly the same Realtek icon for XP64 too. Needless to say that I know how to do this. But this utility from Realtek is slightly different than its Wins counterpart in which you don't have a choice of Client or AP mode. Big deal.

2 minutes later I got connected to my wireless router. Another few minutes later, MY MACPRO was fully networked with all the Windows machine in the household.

I am so happy with this set up because I know I am still a Mac idiot who's trying hard.

The funny thing is already went out and bought a real copy of OSX Leopard. I am so afraid to load it this machine since I don't know what it might do to the EFI v8 already on the hard drive. Maybe when I learn enough about OSX, I will do it.

Man it only took an idiot like to successfully do it in 6 hours! How lucky can that be?

im going to order an SATA HD next week after school gets out (not enought time to have one shipped here)

EnCoDed if you could send me the kexts that would be AMAZING :P i have a full working 10.5.2 flat image instal running on my sata HD but no network connectivity and most likely no sound :) (havnt tried)
