devilhood
Anyone installed directly to 10.4.5 (natively) with the Myzar PPF applied on a 10.4.4 iso? Yep, and it works like a charm. No performance issues here

Jason_Thames
Has anyone been able to find a solution to the bug that is causing ATI Cards to have "kinda working" CI/QE support in 10.4.5? I went back to 10.4.4 because of this bug. Thanks in advance... -Jason

That's what i used. Works fine here. Except I had to download the 10.4.3 extensions from Pirate bay, to get USB working. And I applied the fix to get Airport working. Now the onyl 2 thing sleft are fully working audio (one channel only right now, playing back too fast), and the ability to have widescreen video 1200x800 on my 9600 mibility carde on the laptop. asapreta
hey domino, fixed here my prob is called "ioatafamily" i grab my older ones from F1099 and good 13sec again on spinball but the gui still takes 8-10sec to bootup Hi, I feel my 10.4.5 slower than my 10.4.3. So what you did? Copied the old IOAtaFamily.kext to /System/Library/Extensions and did the "kextcache" stuff? Is the IOAtaFamily.kext avaiable from the 10.4.3 Install DVD? djjoshuad
forgive the noob (me), but I am having the same "fixed 1280x1024" issue that has been mentioned many times here. I did not exactly upgrade a 10.4.4 system to 10.4.5, I used an install DVD that had the upgrade built in. Do I need to re-install without the 10.4.5 upgrade option in order to get the old 10.4.4 kext, then upgrade? I have seen very few bugs or performance concerns other than not being able to change my resolution. Is there a place I can get just the old kext? BTW, thx maxxuss! Breslavets
[..] Running installer -verbose ... Everything in the installation went fine until the installer started to "optimize my disk performance": it stalled at exactly 50% I waited for about 20 minutes but again: no go! Of course: when restarting my laptop: no more 10.4.4!!! So I booted from the (patched) 10.4.4 Installer DVD and did a "mount_hfs" of /dev/disk0s3 (my corrupted 10.4.4 or should we say 10.4.5 volume?) and ran a "fsck -fy" on that volume: luckily enough the HFS was still intact! Did a "mount -uw" to mount it writable. After this I continued with Maxxuss' instructions by altering the scripts to point to my mounted 10.4.4 partition and to include a copy of IONetworkFamily.kext (I'm using a RealTek 8139) from the backed up Extensions folder to the 10.4.5's Extensions folder. [..] Take care, Tek_No I have the same problems(optimizing 50%). After patch suspend at 50% I reboot in single mode from my bootable osx10.4.4DVD(was created from restore DVD + DVDPatcher10.4.4). Then I try to mount my osx partition - disk0s2: #mount_hfs /dev/disk0s2 /tmp it mounted in read/write mode in dirrectory /private/tmp. >After this I continued with Maxxuss' instructions by altering the scripts to >point to my mounted 10.4.4 partition Then I continue from maxxuss instructions: "Post-Installation, Part 1 (from a working 10.4.3 System)" # Define shell variables $T and $E as pointers to the 10.4.4 target volume T=/private/tmp/Volumes/macosx-10.4.4 E=$T/System/Library/Extensions ... Then "Post-Installation, Part 2 (from the updated 10.4.5 System)" boot in 10.4.5 in single mode and finish update to 10.4.5 Thank you Tek_No for your messsge, it help me to update osx to 10.4.5. salax
Hi there! I seem to be stuck with the 10.4.4 version... Although this build seems good enough, most (if not all) of us would honestly like to move on. The image i got was a bootable pre-patched dvd which could only be installed on top of the 10.4.3 OS, with the "Upgrade" selection through the installer. However in the DVD there were the Max patches for 10.4.5 update. As much as i tried to follow the instructions to the letter, nothing would put the goal. I screwed up my machine twice, and the third time around i got to a blue screen with the mouse pointer and nothing else. Somehow i have the impression (although the listings were really fast scrolling) that things and directories that the patch wanted weren't found during the installation. Has anyone located a Myzar patch that would be dlded seperately to try and see what happens on top of 10.4.4? I am back to 4.4 now, not willing to make a fourth attempt for the moment. Could it also be that the new 4.6 patch be used to directly go up to .6 skipping .5 by the way? Thanks
