hey Gopan

i installed kalyway 10.5.1 on my nx7400 as well and there are a couple of other things that do not work:

1. battery is not detected at all, even though i can use the battery while not being plugged in

2. scroll wheel on the mouse pad does not work at all

3. when watching videos on youtube the videos freeze after about 1-2 seconds, but start playing if i move the slider forward a bit only to stop 1-2 seconds later ;)

I think thats it for now....

PS the audio also does not work and i cant seem to find a link for AppleHDAPatcher 1.20....

AppleHDA Patcher - 2006/2007 by Taruga v1.18

_______________________________________________________

Codec : Realtek ALC888

Vendor Id : 0x10ec0888

Subsystem Id : 0x14627502

_______________________________________________________

* Detected unsupported Realtek Codec

After failure with Ubuntu 7.10 codec dump attached below as alc888_14627502.txt

tried alc888.txt below with patcher 1.2.0. This gave some non-functional outputs and inputs in Sound Preference Pane.

alc888_14627502.txt

alc888.txt

Motherboard is MSI 7502 G33 ICH9, actually a Medion 8838

I wish I had some idea what to try next. Would it be possible to add support for this unsupported codec/configuration? Can anyone help please?

Many Thanks

Edited by Taruga
Your codec is supported by the patcher, move them both to other place (pen disk or main directory) and try again. Check if the codec dump it´s in plain text, ritch text is not supported. Read FAQ for more info.

Thanks Taruga, you're a star.

You were quite right, and sound is now working correctly - headphone output, line output and spdif out.

In converting my linux dump I'd ended up with ms-dos line endings which the patcher didn't like much. Once I'd got the same dump into mac format the patcher was quite happy.

With the patched AppleHDA.kext and ALCinject.kext I now find that shutdown no longer completely powers off the machine as reported in another thread, but I can live with that.

Here's the corrected codec dump just in case it's useful to anyone.

Thanks again...

ALC888a.txt

Next challenge to get this as an EFI string.

Edited by Taruga
I have to try to replicate that problem with my hardware to find a solution.

Computer Type: Laptop

Sound Card Vendor: Realtek

Sound Card Model: ALC883

Vendor Id: 0x10ec0882

Working: Before: internal speakers; After: Nothing

Not Working: Before: interl mic; After: everything

Patcher Version used: 1.2.0

System Version: Leopard 10.5.2 (Vanilla Kernel)

I only have a head phone and mic jack but it also detects SPIDF in and out, although I don't have that physically (maybe just no outlet, but built in). But I also have a HDMI with an ATI chip, maybe that is the problem!

I tried a couple of dumps from the link in you first post, for ALC883!

Edited by Taruga
If your vendor id is really 0x10ec0882 the you have ALC882 and you shoud try the patcher with ALC882 dumps

Computer Type: Desktop

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P35-S3G

Sound Card Vendor: Realtek

Sound Card Model: Realtek ALC662 rev1

Vendor Id: 0x10ec0662

Working:

Sound out, stereo ("Built-in Line output") , mic in (detected as "Internal microphone, Built-in"), with Input volume slider.

Not Working:

Front panel jacks, output volume control

sound prefpane also lists a "Built-in Digital output" which I haven't tested.

Patcher Version used: 1.20

System Version: Leo 10.5.2

The codec dump differs only slightly from the (3?) others floating around. it was taken with ubuntu 8.04 beta 32-bit. knoppix didn't recognise the chip in my case.

What's the next step? edit the dump & try re-applying it for more functionality? I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting to experiment more..

P.S. sorry we couldn't provide for all your needs, Taruga, and best of luck in the new place.

Working: Nothing at all

Not working: everything

Patch Version Used: 1.20

Obs.: AppleHDAPatcher told me "This codec is not working at the moment, it needs more research". The multimedia buttons seems to work (volume icon appears and it seems to work, but Mute light is always on, no sound at all)

I hate not having sound in my system, i just loved Mac OS X, i hope to buy a real MacBook as soon as i can but that's not going to happen in the next 11 months or so  so any help will be very preciated!

Thanks a lot!!

P.D.: Sorry about my english, isn't my first language

Sound Card Model: 9227

Vendor Id: 0x83847618

Working: Nothing

Not Working: Everything

Patcher Version used: 1.18

System Version: Leopard 10.5.1

obs: Kext Loads but no input or output device found.

Your 1.16 patcher worked nicely in Tiger 10.4.10 :(

The patched kext from Tiger should also work on leo.

Thanks Taruga, I tried the Tiger kext again and this time it worked.

My recollection was that booting -v it told me I had the wrong version of iokit or something similiar.

Possibly I had mismatched ALCInject.kext and AppleHDA.kext

I have same configuration of my sound as you.

"Could you please upload or send me your patched kext of Tiger and steps of how to replace it on leopard".

my mailID is deepenhm@yahoo.com.

please share your valuable knowledge.

Thanks and Regards,

Deepen
