kd503_b
Hello, i'm building a budget hackintosh and i still haven't chosen a video card. I'll be using that computer for internet browsing, youtube and maybe a little photo editing. So far i think that GeForce 8400GS, 8500 or 8600GT should do the job. I still haven't decided whether i will run Yosemite or Mavericks because my CPU is Core2Duo Е6750 so it will be good if the card is supported in both. I have a geforce 7200 card but i don't think it is supported cause it's really old. Also i don't mind having an AMD gpu so feel free to suggest amd gpus as well. Riley Freeman
It's hard to recommend nvidia these days. Their driver updates are tied to OS build numbers and need constant updating. Plus my previously-reliable GT210 started giving "OpenGL channel timeout" errors after moving from 10.6 to 10.9. I tried removing the nvidia drivers and sticking with the stock Apple ones but the timeouts continued. I'm running a HD5450 now and it's been rock solid so far. A 6000-series would possibly be easier as I don't think they require any injection to work. Should work OOTB like the nvidia cards since Kepler. Update: The channel timeouts haven't returned since moving to Yosemite so I like my 210 again.

spakk
Is Nvidia 9600GSO supported in 10.7.5? that's not a good choice, you will get problems with it. buy a graphics card, which has been described above on ebay for a few euros, then you have fun with OS X. good luck!
