hello,

i have an Gigabyte EP45 DS3 / Intel quad9400/ SATA drives/ Gevorce 9500GT

I have an iatkos install 10.5.8 running on one drive already /all things working fine.

Now i wanted to try a retail install to see the different.

I used an ISO actually made for a EP35 DS3 bord from page 2 or 3 i belive.

I was able to boot into the retail DVD and the install disk came to the point were i select the language (german) than a

window come up to tell me "install not possible on this machine".

It looks like it did not fine my harddrive.

I did enable AHCI in bios so. (why do i actually have to anable AHCI mode my other install works fine with AHCI disabled?)

Any ideas what other ISO i could try or what the problem could be.

Thanks up front for any help.

Well, lets try to make a thread compiling different ISO, INITRD or EXTRA folders made by users who want to share them.

Even if it's not "on demand", you can request for one but be very precise about your Motherboard/Computer, maybe somebody already done it.

If you wish to upload your precious, just few tips to follow:

- State what is the Motherboard/computer targeted

- Enumerate kexts provided

- Describe what is not working.

To make your Own ISO:

1- Galaxy's slimbuilt: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=129834

Hi all I have been searching but I can't find out how to edit the Grub-dfe.iso

The reason I need it is the boot-132 doesn't work on my board but the grub one does and starts to load the retail dvd. But the iso is missing some kexts.

So I was hoping somebody would know how to edit the grub iso.

Any help would be great.....

Thanxs

Hi

I've made a package for the EP45-UD3R/UD3P

it's contains the following kekts:

non standard kexts:

AppleDecrypt

Disabler

OpenHaltRestart

SMBIOSResolver

HDAEnabler

Natit

Legacy kexts (only info.plist)

LegacyAppleAHCIPort

LegacyAppleIntelPIIXATA

LegacyIOAHCIBlockStorage

LegacyHDAController

LegacyHDAPlatformDriver

any suggestions/comments?

should i add/remove something to/from my package?

Attached the kekts and the Extensions.mkext

I can add an iso if somebody need.

So did anyone get an ISO for this install? I would love to try this as I have this motherboard.

Okay here's finally my contribution!

A working Extensions.mkext for Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R (rev 1.0) Motherboard. Attached.

Do i just put this into the extenstions folder? Are there some exact instructions? I put a kext in once before but I don't remember what the process was.

P5E-VM HDMI Install instructions

Here is how;

Kexts i used; (NOTE: not all those are required for boot, *=minimum requirement)

ACPIPS2Nub.kext

AppleAC97Audio.kext

AppleAPIC.kext

AppleHDA.kext

ApplePS2Controller.kext

*dsmos.kext

*IntelCPUPowerManagementDisabler.kext

IONetworkFamily.kext

*SMBIOSEnabler.kext

ALCinject.kext

AppleDecrypt.kext

AttansicL1Ethernet.kext

Not all might be necessary but it did not hurt me to have those, only those for me.

BIOS Settings;

Well, I have configure AHCI and jMicron, worked fine for me, that is all i can say.

Some said it worked only with IDE, again, yours to try whatever is best for you.

Tools you will need;

  • Chameleon DFE for Hard Drive (see 1st post)
  • EFIStudio (for the Graphics) ONLY USE AFTER 10.5.4 IS INSTALLED otherwise your system might not boot.

I used my modified version of CDBoot_RC2.sh to allow me to run everything from a subdirectory instead of having files at the root level, I also used the BOOT-KABYL-BUMBY.iso image as I did not had the image referenced in the script.

In my script I also make sure that all kext are own by root:wheel, again not sure it is a necessary step.

Now you are ready;

  1. Burn the image and boot it
  2. at the prompt install the retail and install with whatever option you wish. I selected to install on the same disk that I am using as I had not enough space to backup my Users directories.
  3. Boot again with the cd and select the drive you installed on (80, 81, 82 or whatever)
  4. Install Chameleon DFE for Harddrive found on the 1st post.
  5. Install the update (I used 10.5.3Combo then 10.5.4Update as I did not had 10.5.4Combo). I also did not install GraphicsUpdates 1.0 as it did not let me do it for some reasons.
  6. once booted in 10.5.4, you can now use EFIStudio to generate the gfxstring for your card and modify the com.apple.Boot.plist

NOTES:

  • AppleHDA sound problem;

Had to copy ALCinject.kext and AppleHDA into the /System/Library/Extensions/ folder of the system disk.
I had them into the /Extra/Extensions which get loaded by the Chameleon boot loader, but unfortunately those did not. probably because there is something missing at that point in time.
  • Waiting for boot device UUID ADC743-0973-3E9C-9162-4F23590BF36C

Well, I had forgotten to install Chameleon_DFE for Hard Drive before the 10.5.3 update...
I had to boot from another OS X disk (my test environment) then install Chameleon on that Leopard disk, then copy manually the /Extra from test to production. Then it booted ok without the CDROM. then did the 10.5.4 updates.
  • Quick fix to stop the Partition boot prompt delay that force you to press enter

    Edit the "/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist"

    add a section for Timeout as follow;
    <key>Timeout</key>
    <string>1</string>

This will give you a 1 second delay before booting the default, which should be your Retail Leopard install.

I've attached my version of the BIOS 604 (604LOGO) with Apple Boot Logo.

Also attached my CMOS to run at 3.81GHz with a E7200 proc.

THANKS TO ALL THAT MADE THIS POSSIBLE

Here are the attachments/files mentioned above; Enjoy

Is there a way you can install Snow Leopard on this motherboard? I tried "http://lifehacker.com/5351485/how-to-build-a-hackintosh-with-snow-leopard-start-to-finish" and it wouldn't go. I think I just need a different boot command that's more compatible. I checked into it, but it had more coding than I care to understand.

Any help would be awesome... you seem to have this last one pretty set.

Hi!

I'd be very much interested in the above specified file, but I'm afraid it is no more possible to download it from rapidshare. Can you re-upload it somewhere, please?

Thx,

Hi all,

I'm pretty new to this, please be nice ;)

I'm trying to install OS X 10.5.4 or 10.5.6 (I have both, I'm not fussy) with the Boot-132 method.

I've tried generic.iso, boot-kabyl-bumby.iso and several others. Almost all show the grey Apple-logo and spinner screen, then show a blue screen (the same blue behind the Mac OS login screen) but get no further. Certain boot-132's, the keyboard and mouse still respond, certain ones not.

I'm using a Lenovo X60 Tablet. It's Intel Core Duo L2500 (1.83GHz, dual core), supports SSE3. 4GB RAM. Intel 945 chipset & GMA950 graphics. I've had an (almost) fully-working Kalyway install, so I think boot-132 should be possible ;)

Would anyone be able to tell me what ISO to try? Some people have mentioned getting retail to work on an X60 but not given details - just let me know ;)

Cheers,

H

I made a BOOT-132- it allows you to boot the Mac OS X installation in VESA graphics mode. So, you can install even with an unsupported graphics card. I didn't see a disc like this before, so I made one because I needed it. Anyway, here is the ISO file: http://www.mediafire.com/file/2nmzredjmmo/boot132.iso

EDIT: Make sure to boot the DVD with -x otherwise it won't boot with VESA.

Great work!

I'm installing with 10.5.4 - it seems I'm going to have to mod it to include fakeSMC:

google.co.uk/search?q=fakesmc+site:netkas.org

but I seem to have got further than I've done with any other boot-132.

FYI, I'm on an IBM Thinkpad X60 tablet.

I could never get the Boot-132 working, even tho I bought Leopard. I was successful in installing iPC 10.5.x on my Dell Optiplex 745 MT. I have a 8500GT video card so it works fine, but no sound/ethernet. 3 questions:

1) Which ISO of Boot-132 did you use to install Retail Leopard?
2) What drivers did you use to get your sound & networking working?
3) If available, can someone post them here or post the link?

Thanx in advance....

I'm using the slimbuild for nvidia cards and have a very similar setup:

q6600

ep35-ds3, rev 2.1, f2 bios

nvidia 7800gt

sata dvd & hd

when I swap in the retail leopard disk it starts loading, then halts right before it loads the kernel.

any advice?

I have tried all the ISO posted on the link.

Either I get the spinning ball or I get a Msg saying cant install OS X on this computer.

My setup

Dell XpS M1530 Intel with Nvida.

I have the original disc that comes with a new Mac.

I can run disk util and see all my drives. It detects the right Nvida Chip, detects the hard disk in Sata or AHCI mode.

Can somebody post an ISO for the M1530

A bit of a catch-22 situation.

I want to build a boot disc for my Gigabyte EP45-DS3R and ATI HD3870-x2 graphics card. Slimbuild sees to be the tool for the job, problem is it needs a MAC OS, which is what I'm trying to build, which is what I need the boot disc for.

The question is - How do I build a boot disc so that I can build my first ever MAC system, without needing a MAC system in the first place?
