skierKyle
I've had Mac running on my computer and I've had just Windows Vista (obviously). But now I'm trying to dual boot. I used this guide ------- http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...p;mode=threaded I used my windows restore disks, wiped Mac off my drive, went straight Vista, Then Cut 40 GB off of the Windows Partition, popped in my Leo4All DVD and restarted. Then I formated the 40 Gig part to Mac. And All that, then restarted......... Then I get a HFS+ Error. After Looking into this, it seemed like I had to set my Mac Partition as active... Still there... Then I did repair MBR in some utility in Hirens Boot CD, I forget which program, Sorry.... Then I restart and Voila! its the darwin boot loader! I pressed F8 to select my operating and do Mac. It works! Then I restart and select Windows. Then I get. So I have tried using my Windows DVD to repair my installation and a bunch of other stuff. I've found a few forums on this but none of the solutions seem to work. Thanks for the help.

Select "Repair my Computer". When you get to the next screen, just continue. Click "Startup Repair". Let it run. Reboot. Hopefully it works. This happened to me after installing the ToH Leopard DVD and the problem was fixed in 5 minutes.
nkear5
Make sure you make your vista partition active before doing this, or it will not work. Afterwards make your OS X partition active again. To make your vista partition active boot into your DVD in -s mode, or go into terminal from OS X and type the following fdisk - e /dev/rdisk0 flag 2 0 is your disk number, 2 is your vista partition. Change the numbers accordingly. Now repair your vista installation. Then boot your OS X dvd into -s mode and type the following fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0 flag 1 update write reboot Again select your numbers accordingly

lilSoldier
Use the Vista DVD to fix that error, then use EasyBCD (google it) to get a mac option on the Vista bootloader

lilSoldier
Oh I see, well to fix your problem, you should do the following: 1. Boot off Vista Disk 2. Select Repair my Computer 3. Even thought it doesn't find any installs, click next or continue 4. Choose command prompt 5. Enter the following:-"diskpart" - "select disk n" (n is the number of the disk your Vista is on) - "select partition n" (n is the partition number Vista is on) - "active" - "exit" 6. Then, exit the command prompt and choose startup repair 7. Reboot, then install EasyBCD 8. Add a Mac entry (You should be able to figure this out - make sure you choose generic x86 PC) 9. Under diagnostics, choose "Fix HFS+ Error" 10. Reboot, and your bootloader should work!
(MoC)
Pop in the Vista DVD and tell it to fix your "issues". Then make sure that the Vista partition is properly set active. That is one of the most common errors I've seen!
AsakuraYoh
It finaly work. The forum was down at that moment but I found that article (and doesn't have anymore the source, sorry): Dual boot Vista & OS X86 with Darwin Bootloader [ OSx86 ] by macgeek @ 14.06.2007 23:43 CET We'll talk here about the most easy and clean way to dual boot Vista & OS X86. And guess what boot manager we will use? Yes, Darwin Bootloader from OS X. You will need for this tutorial: - Windows Vista installation DVD - JaS OS X86 10.4.X installation DVD I recommend the following disk partitioning: - 3 primary partitions: 1- Windows Vista / 2 - OS X86 / 3 - OS X86 - 1 extended partition (containing several HFS+ or FAT32 or NTFS partitions) Having 2 primary OS X86 partitions is really cool for testing new OS X86 install. For instance, you can have Mac OS X86 10.4.9 running on the first, and the latest Leopard WWDC Preview build 9A466 running on the second... ;-) Click on the link above to read the full tutorial in the extended post. Thank you for looking further in this post, let's begin the tutorial. Step 1: Install OS X86 10.4.x on the second primary partition Step 2: Make the first primary partition active to install Vista Boot up OS X and in a terminal window, sudo fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0 flag 1 quit reboot Step 3: Install Vista on the first primary partition Step 4: Restore OS X86 in the MBR Boot off JaS OS X86 dvd in single user mode (press F8 & type -s). At single user prompt, fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0 flag 2 update write quit reboot Step 5: Make the first partition active back to boot up Vista At this point OS X86 should boot up and in a terminal window, sudo fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0 flag 1 quit reboot Step 6: Restore Vista on the MBR Upon reboot, Vista will show "\Window\system32\winload.exe" corrupted. Insert Vista disc & follow directions to recover. Reboot & check that Vista boots up fine. Step 7: Make second primary partition active to use Darwin Bootloader Boot off JaS OS X86 dvd in single user mode again (press F8 & type -s). At single user prompt, fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0 flag 2 quit reboot So now it boot on mac by defaut, and I can boot on Windows Vista. It similar with what you said Thanks
