Hey all... Currently, I've been trying to install 10.4.4 on my 10.4.1 system. The only problem is in the Maxxuss patch guidelines, he mentions I need to take the 10.4.3 kexts: ApplePS2Controller.kext and IOATAFamily.kext and plonk them in the 10.4.4 drive.

There's my problem. I don't have the 10.4.3 kext's. Everytime I try to boot the system in single user mode, it starts opening all the kext's, and takes me to a blank screen afterwards ;)

So, if anyone could upload these two 10.4.3 kext's I'd be very grateful:

ApplePS2Controller.kext

IOATAFamily.kext

Thankyou very much :)

I really don't know if these files were compiled from darwin or not. I looked through the files and they all had copyrights on them. Please do not PM anyone for them. We can still get into trouble even if files were exchanged through personal messages. The best thing to do is install a copy of 10.4.3 under vmware and copy those files to your new install.

Hmm, that's the one thing I didn't want to do... Oh well, looks like a dead end for 10.4.1 if you don't have 10.4.3, which would be stupid to have 10.4.1 installed becuase you would have 10.4.3 ;)

Thanks for the help...

not really a dead end. You "may" be able to extract the files from the 4.2b patch. or you might want to find an external link where they do exchange files. search "spam" on this site to find the external sites

I can't find a download link for the 4.2b patch... could you direct me to one?

All the patches the kids are using these days tend to be floating around bit torrent sources. We can't allow any direct links or urls on this forum.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting a direct link. Just something more along the lines of "google + [insert word here". However I did search google, and got a rapidshare link. But I have a problem when downloading from rapidshare - it just wont come up with a download link or anything...

Anyway, thanks for your help. I found it on a torrent site :P

Right, now that I have this patch, how do you propose I extract it?

Thanks... :)

P.S. It's a .ppf file. PPF-o-matic can't extract it, it just patches an iso. Do you think if I was to patch an iso of 10.4.4 with this, and then mount it, and copy and paste the kexts, it would work?

I know it's a pain in the arse. But if you don't know how to extract the files from the PPF, you'll have to patch the converted dmg yourself. I hope you have it. After you patch the ISO, mount the iso under Tiger and extract the files yourself. There might be an easier way to do it, but I always have a vmware copy of 10.4.3 and 10.4.4 just in case i screw up.

/OT You can't forget that this "hacking" thing isn't for everyone. I often discourage new people from trying to hack something if they don't have the patience. :)
