Mebster
I need a simple application to make adjustments to pictures (to airbrush them, make brighter, etc). I'm looking for something that can basically do what iPhoto does. I would use iPhoto but it keeps crashing on my system. Also is there an application which is a dumbed down version of Photoshop. I've never used it and I think I'd like to start with something small and similar to work my way up. It doesn't matter if both requirements are meet by the same application. ubombmimac
The GIMP is an opensource photo editor as good as PS but its free. looks just like it too. You can also try useing photoshop lightroom, good for devleloping photos, (contrast and color, cropping, hue) cost a bit but is worth it Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/94381-simple-photoshopiphoto-application-required/#findComment-675357 Share on other sites
macintoshguru
The GIMP is good, but it needs a new UI and port over to OSX w/out having to run it through X11. Another for Image Editing would be Acorn: http://www.flyingmeat.com/acorn/ As for Photo organization, there's nothing I know of, though Google will be porting Picasa to the Mac within the next couple of months. http://picasa.google.com/ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/94381-simple-photoshopiphoto-application-required/#findComment-675838 Share on other sites

nkear5
I used photoshop with no experience. Mind you that was quite a while ago now. If you just fiddle around you will eventually get the hang of it. I followed many online tutorials and bought a photoshop CS2 for dummies book. Now I can use it for basically all I need in image editing and creation. However there is drawit It's a little simpler than photoshop but still has basic functionality. Give it a go. There is also Pixelmator (I prefer this one) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/94381-simple-photoshopiphoto-application-required/#findComment-680365 Share on other sites
Rufus T. Firefly
like others have said, Gimp is a good tool for editing pics. It's free too! nikonnut
Mebster, Adobe Elements is a nice "dumbed down" version of Photoshop. Adobe offers a trial download so you can try before you buy. I think you'll like it Nik Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/94381-simple-photoshopiphoto-application-required/#findComment-681591 Share on other sites
