SticMAC™
Firstly you MUST verify that you have QE/CI going otherwise none or most of the software you mentioned won't work! ~pcwiz
After you install iLife 08 and other Apple software, use Software Update to update it to the latest version. iMovie was crashing on Leo for me till I updated it Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/94318-not-many-programs-work-on-leo4all-install/#findComment-672239 Share on other sites

eddie11c
Ok to assist you, when you update anything or add any new software on AMD computers running Leopard you will have to run Marvin's AMD Utility. Alot of these programs have cpuid's and encrypted files that don't work out of the box on AMD CPU's. Just do a little google search to find out how to use it. I only patched what I included on the DVD. Anything you add afterwards your on your own with. Reality-X
BTW are you using Leo4All? I have the same system E521 w/ 512mb 8500GT and I cant seem to get the videocard to work correctly. On a fresh install I get the black screen during boot. I can ping the machine so I know its running, but just cant see anything. ~pcwiz
It would be nice for AMD users if there was a live autopatcher that decrypted any binaries that got into the system to work with AMD Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/94318-not-many-programs-work-on-leo4all-install/#findComment-672300 Share on other sites
eddie11c
It would be nice for AMD users if there was a live autopatcher that decrypted any binaries that got into the system to work with AMD Ya wouldn't that be nice? Now if I remember right, its just like pcwiz said with iLife08. It runs like {censored} till you update it, I don't believe there was anything needed to be patched with it. Now if you installed some drivers for your ideo card you have to watch. Some people include the openGL.framework in the installer which does need to be patched for AMD machines. Without patching the framework stuff will randomly crash. If you check my thread about this release I have uploaded a patch that improves the Nvidia graphics support. Since you already have QE/CI just run Marvin's on your drive. skierKyle
Okay, I did the "Patch all binaries" option in Marvin's AMD Utility and selected my harddrive, now Garage Band works, iDVD pops up at the create a project screen, then quits out. Front Row fades the screen to black then quits back to the desktop. and iMovie still wont work.... iPhoto has always worked perfect tho. ~pcwiz
Yup, iPhoto has worked for me without updating as well. Like I said, go to Software Update and update iLife 08 to the latest version eddie11c, I don't imagine it would be too hard. Just make something that runs as a background process that does the same thing as Marvins except it does it every 5 or 10 minutes. Or you could make a script that runs at startup that patches it Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/94318-not-many-programs-work-on-leo4all-install/#findComment-672371 Share on other sites

Reality-X
Since OSX is unix based, just use the script that Marvins does, and slap it on a cronjob Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/94318-not-many-programs-work-on-leo4all-install/#findComment-672947 Share on other sites
