  1. New hackint0sh hardware sub $350

Oh ok, but other than that, decent support w/ XxX, Leo4All, or iPC distro's?
  2. Hey folks, I'm looking into building a new box for under $350 w/ shipping and here is what I've come up with. Also what would be the best distro to use? mobo: ASUS P5GC-MX/1333 LGA 775 Intel 945GC ($47.99) cpu: Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 Wolfdale 2.66GHz ($124.99) ram: Crucial 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 ($22.99) hd: Western Digital Caviar RE WD2500YD 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA ($39.99) dvd: LITE-ON Black DVD+R DL 2MB Cache SATA ($22.99) case/psu: Athenatech A416BS.H350 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 350W Power Supply ($33.99)
  3. As am I. I'm thinking about putting a new system together and making my "mac" a dedicated machine vise being on the 2nd partition of the machine I'm using now.
  4. Sosai, I have the dv8310us and I got the waiting for root device error on bootup of all 3 version of Leo4All. However there is still hope, Im in the middle of a Zeph's 10.5.1 install on the laptop right now (10.5.2 got the same root device error). I'll let you know how it goes.
  5. Finaly got the DVD system working. I just needed to use Medevils TEST NforceATA kext and it works like a charm. Only thing not working is the burn ability, but Medevil is working on that for a furture release.
  6. Eddie, Well I figured out my DVD/CD-RW problem. It seems I just needed to use the TEST version of Medevils NforceATA kext. Now its reads DVD/CD's no prob. Waiting on his release so I can use the buring capability of the SATA drive.
  7. Eddie, I think my issue w/ the DVD might be due to the fact that im getting Sam Multimedia Read Write Error's like mj29. Im using a SATA drive, what info.plist should i take the hardware id's out of?
  8. any clue as to the DVD prob im having? You can get the iso off of TPB (I like the sparrow reference =)
  9. Try using the 1.6 version and this codec dump. I dumped this codec out of linux and it works great, however it only worked using the 1.6 and 1.5 version of the HDA Patcher. codec.txt Well everything has been working great w/ Leo4All. Last thing i need to get working in the DVD/CDRW drive. The weird part is that if i use the bootloader off the DVD to boot the system via rd=disk0s4, once the system boots I can see the DVD sitting on the desktop. If I boot normally any disk I throw in the drive doesn't show up and the drive access light just keeps blinking for a long while. Some times I cant eject the disk anymore without rebooting, and others the auto-play comes up saying that the disk is a blank CD or DVD. Here a profiler shot of the drive.
  10. Well i've got most everything working now, except for my DVD drive still. The weird part is that if i use the DVD to boot the system (rd=disk0s4) I can see the DVD on the desktop and open it up. If I use the MBR bootloader I get no working drive, although it shows up properly in profiler.
  11. Profiler works great now, and it shows i have QE yippie! Now if i can only figure out why my DVD drive is not reading any disks...
  12. Awesome thanks, I'll check it out when I get home. If it doesnt work I'll just pop back to non PPF version re-install then pull the vidcard drivers from the new disk. Thanks again for the awesome support. Now all i have to do is find a way to get a biger partition for Leo...Vista is soo greedy
  13. eddie11c: Have any clue why profiler would act the way is it, and why my SATA DVD/CDRW drive would just stop working?
  14. Thats Odd, I havent had any errors. Then again, I didnt do a checksum of the iso after I downloaded it, just burned and went. Have you tryed buring the image at a slow speed, 1x or 2x maybe?
  15. Im having a wierd issue w/ the PPF Pached version (Yes I pached it correctly, or so PPF-o-Matic said =) Issue is that when I first booted I got a kernel panic on the vid card kexts. A quick edit of the Info.plists replacing the hardware ID's w/ the one for my 8500GT got it to boot up just fine, and in hi-res. Here is where it gets strange, for some reason now Leo wont recognize my DVD/CDRW drive, and Profiler doesnt show anything but the Networking and Software sections. IE No CPU info, USB Info, Graphic Card/Display info etc. The sections are just not listed. I downloaded an OpenGL tester and it reported the correct CPU, correct Graphics card, and even showed the complete list of res's i can set my display at, along with being able to test the OpenGL (500+ FPS is nice) Xbench also kicks back a 166 Any one have any clue why these wierd things would happen?
