I just wanted to share my experience / frustration as well...

I am attempting to intsall OSX Leopard on a completely different machine - Asus R1E (Tablet) - but am having similar struggles.

With iAtkos - I was unable to get very far at all. I have tried Leo4all, Brazilmac, and a few versions of tiger distros - the furthest I get is with Kalyway 10.5.2

I have a kernel panic after loading most information - just before setup would typically start. Any thoughts on getting around Kalyway kernel panics??? Perhaps loading generic drivers into the install DVD vs specific drivers?

~above~

adding the -v -f cpus=1 switch allows me to get further in the install using leo4all v2

However - it still craps out

some problems that I have seen:

ACPIPS2nub is failing to load

It seems like the installer cannot access the raidcontroller

Finally - it says it cannot mount my partition - and finally hangs not long after:

any thoughts?

my cpu is a C2D T7700

~above~

All of them should say "Cannot mount parition (number)"

So, let me think.

i have not tried leo4all, I have only used Kalyway and iAtkos, both of which work for me.

So, you are having trouble just booting from the CD?

if you are trying iatkos, after f8 key type the following

-v -x cpus=1

this should allow you to boot w/o worrying about some problems, however, from the look of it, you have first pata/sata controller issue, which is not recognized therefore even you boot, you cant install on builtin hdds...

try 10.5.2 kalyway, how? read my signature, you should see iatkos link, when you go to the topic, read the post#2 you should see the TRUMPET buttons... but make sure you understand that my guides are for nforce chipset, so do not follow anything, instead try to find relevant articles related to your system... I am posting to shed you some light to your problems/questions... what questions problems?

+ Kalyway 10.5.2 where to get it from? == check my topic, read post#2 for Kalyway trumpet == do not follow the guides there as they are not for your system

+ Immediate restart: caused by your cpu! it is not SSE3, therefore you need to use cpus=1 flag what is -v? verbose mode to see all error messages, what is -x, to ignore many hw drivers so you can boot still...

+ still waiting for root device: it is caused by non recognized pata/sata controller which your hdds/dvdroms connected to... it is either driver doesnt support your controller, or it doesnt have any device id related to your controllers....

last but no least, learn to read around, you claim to know a lot, but I doubt you even know 1/5 of the things you should know...

people have posted all sort of guides for beginners and other levels... however lazy people dont like to find them, instead they create tons of new topics and wait for an answer...

if you do a simple search around using search function or google... you will find everything you need... but if u dont learn to search read and do things on your own, it will be harder for you, by just arguing with people... there are thousands of people posting everyday without reading a single line around...

How do I find this out?

Also, if I'm using a DVD+RW, does it make any difference when I try and install? I've used DVD+RW many times to install XP on my PC when I've needed too and it worked a treat but I'm not sure about OSX. Can anybody enlighten me?
