hello,

i have leopard on my imac and i want to use limewire (i downloaded several versions) but they just don't work on my account. the program crashes when its working for 1 second. and this does not happen on other accounts on the same imac. it's very strange. i cleaned my whole computer with onyx, but it still does not work.

i've read on various forums that other people also have problems with limewire.

solutions?

but it are mac os x accounts (limewire works under my brothers account, not on mine), and if i make myself another one, i have to transfer settings and all my stuff and that's a bunch of work.

and what do you use for gnutella, fasttrack or edonky downloads?

frostwire also won't work on my account

on my brothers account it does.

strange...

Could you give us some more information? Does it bounce on the dock a couple times and then quit? Or does it not do anything?

Or you could forget about it considering the nature of what can happen to you if you use the program in certain illegal ways :)

limewire starts up and after 2 seconds it freezes and crashes

and i don't use it illegally :P

Personally, i couldn't care less if you did...

Have you by chance moved the Limewire.app out of the Limewire folder in the Apps folder?

If so, this could be the problem...

And sorry you have to share a Mac... :(

Reinstall your Java Runtime Environment.

If it doesn't work on yours, but it works on your brothers, then there must be some account setting is wrong.. try going on the administrator account and going through your account's settings, you might find something there that you can try changing so that it will allow you to run Limewire.

I couldn't live without Limewire, hope you get it fixed :)

i've tried some things: reinstalling java and moving the app out the applications folder and it works! i moved it back into the applications folders and it keeps working, so the problem was java based. maybe some system updates could have solved the problem, i dont know

anyway, thank you for your help!
