Trance
The thing is I have too many audio cassettes with me and now I would like to get all that collection on my hard drive in mp3 or whatever format. I have a regular tape recorder. So what else ( hardware/software ) is needed? And through which application should I import those songs and how? I was confused where to post this but as this is application related, I posted here. Hope its correct. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. badge
i would vehemently discourage you spending your time importing cassette tapes onto your computer. The cassette tape is a vastly inferior media, with an extremely limited frequency response. The only exception i can see if these are personal recordings of some sort. (I still have some recordings of my grandpa singing old italian songs that i need to transfer from cassette). Otherwise, if they are purchased, commercial recordings, i'd say you have every right to download mp3s from your favorite p2p or torrent spot. You have already paid for a copy of the recording, after all. -aKy-
for very simple recording sessions i recommend Wiretap Pro, but i also would use Audacity for Cassette recordings because it has various plugins to improve sound quality. MacUser2525
You may want to look at a Griffin iMic if the line in on your computer does not work it is a USB device that gives you the various line in/outs with mic as well plus it includes software that they specifically mention can be used for your needs here. New in the box on their website is $39.99 if I recall correctly I got one online at Ebay for ~$15 + very resonable shipping costs hopefully it arrives the beginning of next week.. QuietOC
yeah, they are personal recordings. Any recommendation? I have used Microsoft's Analog recorder from Plus! Media Edition successfully. Companies sell USB equipped cassette decks if you want to be really serious.
