i'll get to the point, these forums have turned to pure garbage. the community has turned into nothing but a bunch of kids that have no idea or anything about the previous community or what being a mac user really is.

so i've been somewhat ok with this up until now. i just can't stand how {censored} these forums have turned into not only in terms of posts but how its ruining the forums structure.

why is this forum being littered with stupid hackintosh install questions. there is a specific forum for installing leopard on a stupid unsupported AMD motherboard. i feel that by now providing SSE2 and AMD support every dumb ass that cant get something that is close to apple hardware is trying to get it running (and failing).

this is basically a plea to clean up these forums and start banning people that arent following the rules, keep the OSX installation posts out of this forum.

oh ya about me.. i've pretty much been active in the community for years doing nothing but trying to help people, but i'm at the point where i come to this forum maybe once a week and pretty much want to rip on someone for being a dumbass and posting in the wrong forum. i basically dont want to come here anymore and will likely not come back if things keep going the way it is.

its pretty obvious that the original core is gone, all thats left is mostly clueless people.

SORRY, I'm too lazy to google "<My Computer Model> <chipset model> install leopard"! It would take such an amazing effort off me that I would need to sleep for WEEKS.

BLINKING CURSOR? OMGWTFBQB!! I bet no one has ever asked this before, my computer and I are so unique that it must have been the first time.

*sarcasm*

I hate leechers. People don't have any obligation to help you (the poster who hasn't done his/her homework).

People have to STOP replying to those lonely HELP ME threads. Every problem I came across with iATKOS (What I'm using), I was able to find a solution to on the top search result of google >_>

I just found out about these 1 disk installations *YESTERDAY*. I was so confused about all the diferent names, diferent guides... But I worked my way into making it (somewhat) work (still trying) without creating a f :(:D cking new thread for every litle trouble and doubt that I came accross. And hopefully I will know enough to help a few... but trust me, I won't be helping people who don't try on their own.

so what do you want? ban ppl that don't even know how to search on Google or anything about terminal because they grew up on f... MS "products"? my god i'm just so glad ppl are looking for something other than windows and that they even know that Windows is not a synonym for OS. as a linux user i had no such problems but where would i be without my stupid questions? i started with jas 10.4.7 now i have my leopard DVD i made myself and i'm helping others to begin (i hope). we're all here to learn something and help someone. if you're not i don't think this forum is for you. go on and "dont want to come here anymore and will likely not come back if things keep going the way it is"

The OSx86 forums need different names. Thats why people keep posting threads in this forum, they cant read and "osx86" is too difficult for them to comprehend when all they know is that this crazy thing they want is called Leopard. "Post installation discussion" probably sounds like an exclusive club only for those who have a fully working install to them too, instead of a place for troubleshooting.

Renaming the hack forum to "OS X Leopard (OSx86)" would help.

"i'll get to the point, these forums have turned to pure garbage. the community has turned into nothing but a bunch of kids that have no idea or anything about the previous community or what being a mac user really is."

My response = I suppose then that a real mac user is someone (not a kid) who prefers to pay over the top for standard technology inside overpriced well designed plastic casings

"why is this forum being littered with stupid hackintosh install questions. there is a specific forum for installing leopard on a stupid unsupported AMD motherboard. i feel that by now providing SSE2 and AMD support every dumb ass that cant get something that is close to apple hardware is trying to get it running (and failing)."

My response = Don't enter any forums which do not concern you then you won't get yourself all hot and bothered

My two cents worth = I love this forum for its variety and freedom of post plus its knowledge. If a thread is started with an obviously lazy enquiry then the reader should look elsewhere.

you are completely missing the point. i'm a real mac user and a hackintosh user, i've likely been involved in this community for a lot longer than you have and have done more for it.

you also completely missed that my beef is this specific SUB FORUM AND NOT THIS SITE. are you so dense that you can't see there is a sub forum specifically for hackintosh install issues? do you think this forum is here so that when you don't get an response in that forum that you should post here?

this forum right here is about discussing mac os x leopard, not installing it or getting some random hackintosh hardware working with it.

@topicstarter:

Is that a surprise for you? Grabbing software has become so easy and i guess about 97% of all M$ users don´t even know how to create or remove folders from within a command line ..... so: what do you expect from a 1337omgwtfroxxor generation???

sg if people coul READ more isntead of just asking because they dont want to spend time searching for the solutions this community would be different.

As Hagar said a lot of times, the info is there, so do your "homework".

The title of this thread is "State of the community and these forums" so I do not feel that I am so dense as to miss your "real" point about this SUB FORUM.

Actually your real point is a plea for someone to shift threads into the forums to which they belong and for you not to be bothered with lazy enquiries - and that is reasonable.

The trouble with posting-with-attitude is that the flames get spread over a wide area and your argument becomes so generalised as to be worthless.

My two cents towards this topic is this:

Because those new to the OSx86 Project (for the most part) are too lazy to search for their answers, the search functions (be it google or the in-board search (which I prefer)) are not as effective as they could be. There is a LOT of useful information on this forum--infinite. I like to say that I am good at searching the internet, in any form, for answers to my problems. But I search for something like "GMA950 dual head mirror" (I just did, see new post in Leopard post-install) and cannot find a single USEFUL post concerning it, and that is just pitiful.

With a community this large, and querying against a popular chipset issue, you KNOW that somebody else has had the same problem. The board is simply too polluted to find the answer all the time. I almost always find my answers now, but its idiotic to search a 50+ page thread of bull for an answer to a simple question (see the AppleHDA Solution thread) it is absolutely ridiculous.

"I have <chipset> on a <computer model> what should I do" posts should be deleted with a message sent to the poster that says something like "Please use the search functions of the forum, or use google with 'site:http://insanelymac.com' after your search terms."

Simply put, I would love to not post a new thread because there are too many pages of bull to waste two days searching through for a simple problem solution. We all know this is how others feel, which causes the thread-count problem to worsen. And another thing, before someone says or thinks it, I have a small post count because I do indeed search the forums for my answers. My posts as of late have been trying to help others with my limited knowledge, but I try not to post if I have nothing useful to say.
