hey equate, just some heads up information in case if you come across as well...

this happens on nforce (not sure about other chipsets)...

some mobos like nforce after bootloader is correctly installed, the hdd refuses to load it still with blinking cursor! you are hearing correct!, even evertyhing is normaly installed with r3, it happens... why? it is either hdd (as some other people suggests in perfect installs on intels as well some hdd models has trouble loading bootloader of os x, esp high speed hdds) or certain chipsets...

bcoz i saw on one example mobo was having trouble setting master slave on a ide although jumpers were correct, another one on a sata drive (high speed hdd) everything installs correctly, but bootloader refuses to load..., only blinking cursor!

hope it helps some people struggling with still blinking cursor with r3... change hdd or hdd type (pata sata or non high speed one meaning not 10k rpm)??

Changing from 10k to non-10k would do nothing at all. Possibly changing from pata to sata or vice versa would, but unlikely if the controller is recognised. More likely the partition is either not active, or is not primary. Installing on a slave disk when no master exists is generally a bad idea as well.

Please Forgive my ignorance, but how is a patch applied?

Read the readme file that came inside the zip.

After re-burning the ISO (thank you for the suggestion!) I have semi-successfully installed iATKOS_v1.0ir2 (3 times) on an Acer Aspire 4310... I am only ever able to boot into OS X from the installation DVD, not from the hard drive.

It seems Vista is corrupted by the OSX installation, so I used a boot disk to repair Vista, then I dragged my chain0 file to the C:\ folder on Vista and followed the instructions to make my root drive active. When I restarted I was given the option of Vista and OS X as predicted. However, when I selected the OS X option I received a "chain booting error". (I was able to boot into Vista just fine.

I then made my OS X drive the active partition and was able to boot into OS X. I installed the KalywayUpdCombo10.5.2 (the OS X update portion only)... then I returned my active partition to the root drive... the dual boot option appeared as normal. I selected Vista. It told me Vista could not be found. So inserted the Vista recovery disk, at this point it could not find the original operating system, nor could it repair it. Though perplexing this is the least of my concerns.

I am still unable to boot into OS X from the dual boot menu. I had to return my OS X partition to be the active partition. I was then able to boot into OS X 10.5.2 using the iATKOS disk to boot from. My problem remains that no matter what I try, I cannot boot from the drive. I always require the disk, otherwise I just get a never ending flashing cursor at startup.

More importantly though, with Vista gone MIA, I have no internet connection. Strangely, my Wifi works. I am able to create a network and join that network from my other "real" OS X PowerBook G4. I can send files back and forth. I can even video and (one way) audio chat over Bonjour. However I am unable to connect to the internet (which is via my neighbor's WEP secure WiFi router). I can connect to his router, but I only ever have a local self assigned i.p. address. I tried manually entering all of my DHCP and DNS information. It then claims I'm "connected", but again, no internet. My WiFi clearly works, yet I can't imagine what else I could change to enable the internet. I tried Network Diagnostics many times to no avail.

Additional problems include: no microphone, no firewire, no ethernet. I haven't checked the speaker output port but I assume that is not working either. Everything else appears to be functioning as normal. The internet is the key thing I need to work though... everything else can be gotten around using USB devices I imagine.

Can't comment on the vista thing - never used it. But I would suggest you set it as active and then try the dvd.

As for the wifi.. What wifi card?

Firewire can be made to work most likely (see Chun-Nan's IOPCIFamily & IOPCCardFamily kexts), and mic depends on AppleHDAPatcher.

Hello to all, I've a problem with this patch (iATKOS_v1.0ir2-EqUaTe1.ppf), now i try to explain with my poor english what I've done:

-I have installed iATKOS_v1.0ir2.iso on my notebook hp6510b(i've wrote the other details of it config below..) and osx work well also if don't functions ethernet and wifi (respectively BG5787M and intel Pro/wireless 3945ABG), but i know, this ones are another chapter!

-the real problem is a blinking cursor on start up from the internal sata hd (indeed osx starts well from a external USB HD), so reading some posts i've understood that i need the unofficial equate patch.

- well, following the instruction i've patched the iso to obtain the new upgraded image ready to be burned, I've controlled md5 checksum matches on both the images (r2 and r3);

- Now a new problem arises: when i've tried to install the new release, i can't select the sata hd from disk utility, so i can't begin with the installation process! nothing is changed in bios config between the two install.

help me please!

thx in advance

Try disabling AHCI.

Seemingly something changed with the SATA support, reducing the number of devices that were supported with AHCI.

It's something I'll investigate and resolve as part of my own release.

well you would think so? but i saw it with my own eyes! some hdds refuses to load the bootloader although everythings is clean! master hdd slave others... doesnt matter... it is not only a case with ide (pata) either, i saw it on sata drives as well... some hdds simply refuses to load bootloader... bcoz i saw it with my own eyes... brandnew 10k hdd clean install, bootloader doesnt load... (i check the partition yes it is active but doesnt load BL still) another sata clean install loads fine on the same port, even changing the port didnt change the bootloader problem... and i have read on some of the so called perfect install guides as well... on intel chipset, it can refuse to load os x bootloader on certain types/models hdds... maybe issue with bios? maybe something else, but I know what i m talking about bootloader... yes 10k to non-10k shouldnt make any difference, but it does! although it doesnt make any sense... and it is not just 10k hdds only but most of them are on 10k hdds i can say... funny enough, these types sometimes load the bootloader sometimes not... i have enough experience on active passive primary secondary, and problem is not that, i can tell u this for sure! but it is up to you to believe or not... just telling you my experience...

I am having problems installing iATKOS 1.0i R2, as im getting the following error when booting from the DVD (this is before the installation begins)

"Extension com.driver.apple.ACPIPlatform has immediate dependencies on both com.apple.kernel and com.apple.kpi; use only one style"

Is it likely this patch might fix the problem?

Cheers!

Is there a simple way to patch a device ID into a kext file to an ISO image of iATKOS within windows? I can't get the iATKOS installer to see my Sata drives. So I install to an external USB to do some testing etc. I edit the "AppleVIAATA.kext" file with kext helperB, adding my device ID "0x53721106" once leopard is up and running and then I can see my drives but is useless now. I did this before through the terminal instead of kext helperB. There is like ZERO help on these forums and your patch was the only INSTALL I could get booting. Anyone?

Hi, I just installed iAtkos 1.0r2 EqUaTe to my external usb HDD. Went well but I only selected the Darwin Bootloader x86 since I was having issues earlier and though the patches may have been the problem...turns out it was something else...well I installed successfully I beleive but when i reboot and run -v -x I run into the error message:

panic(cpu 0 caller 0x001A8387): Kernel trap at 0x1147392c, type 14=page fault, registers:

(some error codes regarding CR0 - CR4 etc.)

Error code: 0x00000003

The debugger is run and ends with the

com.apple.driver.ApplIntelCPUPowerManagement

then with the Kernel Version...

I'm not sure whether it may be something in regards to not applying a CPU patch in the install but I also tried booting with -v cpus=1. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi there!

Thanks so much for these fixes and threads! Really helpfull!

My specs:

Asus A8N-sli deluxe

amd athlon 64 4000+

geforce 8800 gtx

2 gig ram

windows xp on master drive

got a second 80 gig hard drive, unalocated, ready to take the osx

The thing is, I downloaded the iatkos v1.0ir, applied both patches (even tried the bad bios) and all of the MD5 checks i made work (both on iso and patch files).

When I boot with the original file (iatkos v1.0ir), it gives me the rotating / with the apple logo as a backdrop (which is expected since I have an AMD cpu)... but when i patch with either r2 or r3 and boot with it, it gives me the apple logo with a message in 3 languages stating i need to retart my computer, without even trying to install...

Can u help me please?

Hi there.

I´m looking for help.

I´ll right down here what problem I´m facing and if is possible, please, send me solutions.

I own a MSI P6N SLi Platinum (famous for it´s Bad BIOS - since it´s a MSI board) and I´m using the iATKOS R2 (patched with equates1 + BadBIos PPF). When I boot using cpus=1 -v the system boots fine, but when i get to OSX installer, it doesn´t recognizes my IDE ATA HD (formatted to FAT32).

What problems am I facing? Do you have any suggestions??

I have here some versions of OSX - iATKOS R2 and R3 - Leo4all V2 and V3 - Kalyway 10.5.2 and none of this works for me.

I´ll be very glad if somebody can help solving this problem.

THNX.

hi equate... kudos to your great support! i need some newbie advice...

im using an hp pavilion dv6560US, running Vista Business. With the help of iATKOS1.1 i was able to install and boot osx smoothly on the first try. however, as the OS was loading up with the grey apple and turning wheel, it suddenly stopped. hdd activity also died. i've tried reinstalling 5 times after that. I need your help. will R2 and the equate patch solve this problem?

thanks and regards!
