I have spent all day today trying to get my 256MB nvidia 7600GS to work.

Device ID: 0x0392

I have tried a multitude of kext installers including ones that come on the Kalyway disk along with ones from this site, none of which seem to work.

My conclusion is that I need to do a manual install?

I know a need a kext editor and such but I'm not too sure which drivers i need to edit and how to edit them. Also if they are compatible with leopard I have no idea....

If anyone has gotten a 7600GS to work with leopard I would really appreciate some help as I'm about to giveup ;)

Thanks in advance.

7600GS works perfectly with Kalyway 10.5.1 -- but there might be other problems on your specific motherboard and/or install.

I have tested install of my 7600GS with NVInject version 1.5, 2.0 and 2.1. All work with dual monitors, full functions.

Just do a fresh install and select the Kalyway Customize option NVInject at the beginning of install.

OR after a successful install using some other video card, install the latest NVInject available at the NVInject website. http://nvinject.free.fr/downloads.php Instructions on this site are a little confusing.

The Kalyway install comes with a simple Kext installer utility (look in the applications folder. Just drag the Kext to the installer and click install. It works.

Or you can use the NVInject version provided as a self-installer package -- it installs the kext and corrects all the permission. Download it here:http://nvinject.free.fr/files/NVinject.0.2.0_installer.zip

NOTE that if you have previously installed the natit kext, these need to be removed before the NVInject install. NVInject is more current, and recommended for this card.

If the card is not working with these methods, it is probable your install and system have other problems, not just the video card. The 7600GS works quite well with most Leopard installs.

HookID: If you're using DVI, try switching to VGA and see if your black / blue screen doesn't show the desktop.

I had this same problem and just adding an DVI to VGA adapter got me up and running (for now).

I think different versions of NVinject support DVI, so next I'm trying to figure out how to get DVI working with TV out :censored2:

@ jdxx whenever I use NVinject it does the black/blue screen

but it seems like you all say that NVinject works so maybe I will try the DVI port, as I am using VGA right now.

also do I need to edit the kext files with the self install file? or will it automatically have the DevID for my card.

thanks

I get working a 7600 256

with ninject v41

then i change the nvcap for this one

Fri

040100010e00 01 00 0e 0000000000010b01000000

You have to go into NvinjectGo,kext.

and in the info.plist

with a proper plist editor, here a link of a good one:

http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/14363/plistedit-pro

change the nvcap for this.

other nvcap that you can try:

040100010e00 01 00 0e 0000000000010b01000000 for internal + DVI or VGA or TV

040100010e000100020000000000010b01000000 for internal + VGA

040100010e000100040000000000010b01000000 for internal + DVI

040100010e000100080000000000010b01000000 for internal + TV

Hi all

is there any other way of getting a asus 512mg 7600gs without flashing?

not sure. but I did try flashing card 9-10 times with no success. kept getting calculation mismatches although I believe I followed the instructions to the T.... I tried a swag of different 7600gs roms too which wouldn't even try to load to board firmware mismatches. There are some fail 'safe' steps you can do to recover bad flashed card.

When you turn your machine on - you boot up to usb device - then make a batch file 1.bat and put in your commands to force the eprom recovery ...so the worst thing that can happen is that your flying blind - no output on screen. then hit 1 and enter to take your card back to previous state. or you can swap output video to onboard video output and with latest eprom flash utilities allow can specify which card to flash.

I ended up forking out $100 bucks for 256 ENS7300GS card which works ok with QE. I don't have dual screen though.

I am going to try again to flash card this time with the 512Mb ROM Patcher from nviject and will post my results in coming days. this is actually an application from the look of it that runs inside osx.

Anyone have any success with this?

I am running 10.5.4 with Darwine 9.2 ToH. My PCI Video card is NVidia 7600 GS with 256 Meg. I went to NVKush and downloaded NVKext files and NVKush package

After spending many hours tinkering, I found a solution. My trick was to match device id to 0x000010de& 0x0000ffff

I think 0x0000ffff is the mask to match last four digits only. So, my 7600 became 0x000010de, Once I edited Info.plist on NVDResman, NVDANV40Hal and NVKush, everything came up. I am sure it would have worked with Natit or NVinject as well.

Hi,

Please help. I have an EVGA 7600GS video card with 256MB of Ram. It is a PCIe card. I installed the Kalyway_10.5.2 build with the Nvidia driver. It recognized the card but the screen keep flashing and I cannot see clearly to work on it. Then I did the /removevideodrivers from single user mode. I am able to work in VGA only mode.

I rebuild the machine without any video driver. It works fine with VGA default driver. Then I have tried out NVINJECT, Natit and NVkush each on it's own with the same result. The card is recognized but the video keeps flashing. I also changed the NVCAP value to the same one I attached in my evga bios (04000000 00000300 04000000 0000000a 00000000). I also tried the EFIStudio to add in the EFI string for my card and it still does not work.

I am running out of ideas. I tried both the DVI AND VGA port with the same result. Could someone offer me some assistance?

Thanks in advance.

NVKush installer should work but you probably need to install the NVidia Leopard graphics kexts as well.......see here......
